This is my second SD9VE. I had one previously, needing at the time to fund something else. I bought another one here a month or so, and I'm planning on adding some of the same accessories to it that I had added to my previous one (and sold with it.) One of the accessories that I added was an extended take down lever from Galloway precision. At the time, I also bought a stainless steel recoil assembly, which I don't think I will do at this time...I'm just going to buy a spare OEM assembly, to have on hand, and shoot this one stock for a while. I do find it easier to use the extended take down lever, though...the stock one just barely protrudes enough to be able to get a grip on, and the extended lever doesn't stick out enough to snag on anything but is so much easier to grasp.

On the Galloway Precision site, their extended lever for the SD is $12, but they charge $6.95 for shipping! I sent them an e-mail, asking if this is correct, since the part is a small plastic piece that could easily be mailed in a 1st class envelope. Galloway Precision also lists the very same plate (albeit for a Glock) on Amazon for $12 and free shipping. I asked if that plate would fit in an SD9VE.

I got a reply from Eric Galloway as follows:

"Yeah they are the same, we have a shipping agreement with amazon so they pick up some of the shipping and we charge more for the parts on the amazon site to also cover the left over shipping. Shipping is a best, we don't use a envelope for anything that is not even a reasonable option. It cost to ship, overhead and postage, materials, labor, contracts.

Actually, they are the same price: $12 on Amazon and $12 on the Galloway site.

I can understand costs of shipping...some retailers, like MidwayUSA, even add a $3 fee for orders under a certain amount, in addition to shipping costs. However, I think more than half the cost of the item is a bit outrageous to charge for shipping. It's not much in the grand scheme of things, but still...$6.95 to ship a $12 part that weighs nothing is a bit exorbitant IMO.

So, I'm thinking about buying the part listed on Amazon. Apparently, according to the email from Galloway, it's the same part. I was wondering if anyone else has used a Glock take down lever in their SD9VE?

Are any other glock parts interchangeable?

Not that I know of. I didn't even know the take down lever would be, but based on Eric Galloway's response, it seems to be. I know the commonly purchased accessories (slide cover plate, sights, magazines, recoil spring assemblies, etc) do not interchange.

10-4.when they make slide cover plates I'm gunna get one for my m&p and one for the sd.only other things I plan on are apex trigger and talon grips.after I figure out the problem first.

I read a recent post that the slide cover plates (and mag extensions) are being made for M&Ps. I haven't seen anything about plates for SDs.

What problem are you trying to figure out?
