Default Ammo Question

This has probably been discussed before.
Has anybody used this ammo thru the SD9VE?
My issue is I can't find 9mm ammo around these parts.
All the big box stores are always out and the local gun shops
will only sell you ammo if you use there range.

I'm going to have to go online to buy it.
Has anybody shot Russian ammo Tul, Silver Bear, and Wolf
the steel cased berdan primed or Herter's aluminum cased nylon jacketed ammo?

Is any of the remanufactured ammo any good Atomic, MBI,
American Quality Ammunition?

This would just be for plinking.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I haven't ever used any of the Russian steel cased ammo, I know many who have, seems to work fine, dirty, but it works. Some ranges won't allow it though, not sure why. For a while I used USAAmmo, remnufactured, very happy with it. There are some quality companies out there, hopefully someone currently using them will chime in. I don't know where you live, but if I where looking to buy 9mm ammo locally, it wouldn't be a problem. Why not buy online? There are plenty of deals. Sure am glad I started reloading five years ago!

Another online source would be Freedom Munitions. Haven't shot their stuff yet, but according to the range where I went last time their reloads and new ammo supposed to be good. I'm going to try it as soon as I have some disposable bucks. Luckily they are just a mile from my job site so I can swing by and pick it up and save the costs for shipping.

They,(Freedom) have some moderate prices for reloads... looking vertually new. Their supply seems better , currently.

Freedom Munitions ammo works well, very reputable company.
No issues with their Reman 9mm 115gr.
Aluminum cased ammo isn't a problem either.
But, even though it is cheap, I prefer not to shoot any steel cased through my pistols. Just me maybe.
Ordered from Cabelas, Bass pro and get in store pickup to avoid shipping charges.
Online seems to be the easiest usually, but you always have to factor in shipping and what you are willing to pay per round.

I've shot 250 rounds of Brown Bear Russian ammo through my SD9VE with no issues, though I'll agree it was rather dirty compared to the RemFedChester stuff I've used before. There was some sort of coating on the cases, can't remember what but it looked somewhat oily. Fed fine, went where I pointed it (but I still need some work on my pointing, heh.)

I tried to order some 38 Special through Freedom Munition last weekend and their shipping times were outrageous due to "a high volume of orders." It was a good deal but it didn't want to wait 15 days for it to even get in the mail; already had a range trip planned so I cancelled the order and was going to use the refunded money to buy some ammo locally, but the credit card refund didn't go through for 10 days. Now that might have been my credit card company but the whole thing rubbed me the wrong way.

Forget the crapy bulk bullets and reload. I just bought a lee press and components for 1000 bullets for 360 dollars. Only slightly more then 1000 factory bullets would have costed and now I'm reloading really nice for 16cents a round

you are doing it wrong. my reloader pays roughly 6-8 cents per round of 40 S&W

I just had my first failure to feed followed shortly by a failure to eject on my last range trip when I tried out a box of DRT 85gr 9mm fragmenting rounds. Never had any issues with my SD9VE not liking any ammo till now, including Russian Brown Bear. I was planning on loading these for defense pending a successful test because they were 15.97 for a box of 20 (on sale, 17.99 I believe) making it the cheapest defense ammo I've seen this far, much less at my local Academy. However if the second box doesn't go through without a hitch, I'm sticking with my Golden Sabers 124gr and dealing with the cost by simply not stocking up on as much at a time.
