Galloway Precision Mods (they are all on this SD40 VE)
So as some of you may already know, my SD40 VE already had the Galloway Precision Trigger Spring Kit installed lowering down the trigger pull to around 5lbs.
Today I got a package in the mail with the Galloway Precision:
22lb Guide Rod in Stainless Steel
The wide body takedown lever
Grip kit
Pics below!
I feel that the thumb grips are tacky and I'm prob going to remove those. I like the rest of them, they definitely feel good and sturdy.

Your weapon should already have a bit of stipple where you'd index finger the gun. You are supposed to put those ovals above the palm swell, where your thumb would rest. That's why it don't feel right.
Put them on both sides, directly below the slide lock release on the left side...and same place on the right side.
hmbiohazard has the stainless spring and guiderod as well. I'm going to try and shoot his one day.
My SD is up for sale...but I'd still like to see how she shoots with that mod.
Next mod, get the Apex trigger. Much less pre-travel and zero over travel.
Here's where they belong.

I thought maybe that was a Massachusetts thing....LOL.
They do give it a real nice feel in your hand. Not too grippy, just enough.

Why are you selling your SD? What are you planning on replacing it with?
I can't wait to try the new rod.
Thanks for helping me figure out why those thumb grips didn't look right!

I like and shoot my mp40c better. Also my edc gun.
I am in the market for a long barrel 9mm mp for range and maybe even some idpa.
My girl has a brand new mp 9c...so I have a bug if needed.
Sd is a great gun...I just like my mp better.

I did the 22lb spring and apex springs. Love it, shoots soo much better. I also have a m&p 40c which I do like more!!! Thinking about selling or trading my sdve. I was at peters last week with both guns for the first time and I shoot My 40c better as well. The sdve is still a great gun tho. And definitely recommend it to all

Sell it. Mint shape, two gun shops offered me $175 for my Girl's SD9VE, and I bought her 9c from one of them.
You can get more if you sell it outright, and it's worth more to you.

i refuse to buy guns from them. they are just too expensive. but for $12 per hour and they usually dont time you. its worth it for range time. i know dajogejr is out that way as well. we shoudl meet up for a shoot and maybe dinner at national coney at 696 n gratiot. they are very OC friendly and i tend to like their food. (yes i am an open carry guy. its a double sided blade)
i really liek CQT in shelby. great place. good ventilation. and i rented their full auto m4 before. lots of fun

Ya understand shops gotta make money on the gun too. But i couldnt give mine away for 175. Its too nice of a gun. I love when I see people trying to get 370 to 400 for their used sdve. Had someone tell me their 4 yr old stock m&p 45c was worth 700$ on armslist

$275 for that one, with those mods. is a good price. i like my zombie green SD40 lol. i wont be getting rid of it any time soon. peters wanted $459 for the SD40VE when i looked. i got it from another LGS for $279
that big of a price difference is unacceptable. for that reason only thing i buy from peters is mags if i cant find anywhere else.
their ventilation system on range sucks as well. but for the price and location its a decent place to shoot

Yep, I live literally 5 minutes away. It's close and easy, and they don't time you...usually it's empty. Just get one of the first few stalls so the targets don't blow back and forth.
I collect my fair share of brass too.
When I called originally looking for my SD40VE, they quoted me $450...but it may have been $459. I asked, dumbfounded...literally "We're talking about the SD40VE, right?"
They said yes...I said...buh bye.
Bought mine 359 new from Michigan, bought my girls' new from Ma's guns @ Novi for 329. I missed out on a used SD40VE from Michigun...him/hawed too much, for $279.
I understand a place has to make money, but if I'm going to drop a few hundred more on another gun, make it acceptable. If they would've offered 225 to 240, I would've taken it just to make things easy.
I sold the 9 for 275 cash, in person.
This week is tied up...although I'm open Sunday.
Next week, any day but Monday is good.
You guys put it together, I'll be there.

I thought you bought your SD40VE used hmbio, I didn't realize you bought it new for that much.
Hell, that's better than Target Sports down south when they run them on sale for 289...wow.

They're not high on guns. Accessories, yes...
If you compare retail price of Bud's, Cheaper than Dirt, yes.
Figure in shipping, FFL fee, tax you'll pay, and it's a wash.
I went through this exercise on my girls 9c.
I could've saved money on my SD40...but only if you gun show it.
The common, more expensive arms (MP series) are priced within reason.
We paid 529 new....and drove across the street for her 9c.
I could've bought it new WAY past Port Huron for 485. But time and gas...wasn't worth it.
Gun shows are great, but think about the time, parking, admission fee, etc., then think about what you're really saving...

Got a guy telling me earlier today he can buy one new at 300. I asked him where? I'll buy 10.
Also had a guy asked if he needed a permit to purchase it.
Wow...where do some of these people come from?

Yep..several, full asking price. Then they vanish.
Happened the same way with my girl's SD9VE.
Her's was even less use and hers for even less time.
The guy that actually bought it was cool as heck, buys a lot of them used, like them...but is out of town for work. If it's still around when he gets back, I'll deal with him.
ARMSLIST and MGO are great for tire kickers and Whodinis.
Is what it is... When the cash is firmly in the hand, ad comes down. Till then, play the game.

Also had a guy asked if he needed a permit to purchase it.
Wow...where do some of these people come from?

With all due respect,
this is Michigan. Not Iowa.
There are several large gun shows in MI, Gibralter Trade Centers (Taylor and Mt. Clemens) and Novi Gun Expo. Been to them, bought one at one...and the cheapest at one of these shows is 329. And I'm talking recent months, not last year, etc.
Most LGS go from 349 to 369. The LGS that are on crack have them for over 400.
You can buy these new down south on sale for 289 to 310.
Location, location, location. The market for these guns used is $250 to $275 up here in MI, and $330 to $360 new.
If you buy one out of state, like cheaper than dirt, buds, etc., and pay 310 for it... tack on sales tax, FFL fee and possible shipping.
I bought mine from a LGS across the street for 359. A month later, gun show, 329 for my girl's SD9VE we just sold.
Market for things are different in different areas of the country.
If a guy was out of state looking to buy a pistol in MI, well, shame on him anyways.W
(Wago....sorry the MI guys kinda jacked up your thread and took it WAY offline. )

I got mine at a LGS here in Tennessee for less than that. Pistol, Uncle Mike's Reflex holster and 100 rds of ammo for $300 plus tax total OTD.

In Georgia I paid 290 for my SD9ve at a gun show 2 years ago now. Rented a M&P40c at the range I use & like most fell in love with it. They had a new one for about 500. But said they would only give me 160 for my SD9ve. I did not love the M&P that much. The ever next week the Wife buys a M&P9c for 484 it's a great gun but to me not that much

Sounds about right. Two different lgs offered me 175 for mine.
If you want an mp, sell your gun yourself.

That was a little while back, I have lost the fever for a M&P in fact lost the 40cal. fever as well, I will just keep the great pistol I got a great deal on.
But I am really interested in changing the guide rod & recoil spring in my SD9ve, wondering how you can reduce the recoil without having problems with at least it locking back after last round.
I shoot what ever 9mm I can get my hands on mostly 115 g.
