SD9VE wear concern?
I have a SD9VE and I have some wear around the firing pin. It looks like black residue and some "nicks" in the metal. Is this something I should be concerned about? There's about 200 or so rounds through the old beauty. ( I don't know how to add pictures through my smart phone /: )

What you describe sounds like normal finish wear (and perhaps residue from gunpowder ash that cleaning will remove, although probably unnesecary with only 200 rounds ).
Your pistol is a machine designed to function through many thousands of cycles.
Cosmetics (the finish) have nothing to do with function.
Unless it won't work, keep shooting and post back when you get to 10,000 rounds.

The striker (not a firing pin) is very easy to remove, clean, and inspect. 200 rounds isn't enough to cause normal wear...it's not even enough to break in the gun, much less break it.
Check the striker frequently, and if it does show some pitting or other damage, contact S&W. Unfortunately, I don't think they will sell you a striker assembly, so you'll have to send it to S&W...but they pay for shipping.

Is there a way to upload a picture on here? I always clean it after shooting, even if it was like 5 or 6 rounds I always took it apart to clean it and maintain it.

It's impossible for me to comment on nicks in the metal without a picture but all the rest sounds normal. If there is a problem, call Smith, their CS is outstanding.
I'd say shoot it for about 20 years and give us an update, meanwhile, post often!

I haven't seen what yours looks like but I think you could remove the striker assembly and clean the tip of the striker without too much trouble. The striker assembly comes out easily (see instructions on YouTube for removing the slide end cap of the M&P9; the method of removing the SD clide cap is the same). When cleaning it, I would use only a cloth and cleaning solution, not a buffing wheel or anything that might weaken (or shorten) the striker.
The channel it lives in, and the striker itself, should be clear of gunk; I think you can use a CLP like Breakfree to clean the channel and the parts, or better yet a good cleaner. The striker assembly should not be oiled - the idea is to keep dirt and debris from getting in there or sticking if it does.
If you had to, and I don't think you need to, I suspect you could order a new SD striker assembly from S&W by phone. A comparable unit for the M&P costs around $30. If they won't send one to you, they would certainly repair or replace yours if it needed work and you sent it in. They probably wouldn't want to take that on unless you were having a functional problem with it, such as light strikes.
Good luck with it!

I gotta agree here I have 600 rounds down the pipe on mine and every 100-200 rounds I shoot the more accurate it becomes and smoother it works

It seems to function well. Pretty accurate too. I love shooting it. I'll keep an eye on it and shoot some more down range and see how it looks.
