Default SW40VE 30 ROUND EXTENDED MAGAZINES

I am wondering if anybody on this forum has ever made the 30 round extended magazines for the SW40VE.i have seen on youtube some people have combined two magazines together with welding or a small horseshoe shaped piece of metal..added a 30 round magazine spring..or just two normal springs seperated with a magazine spring plate..does anybody know about this..or know where u can actually buy a 30 round magazine for the sw40ve homemade..as it appears none were ever made factory or aftermarket..

I have 16 round magazines.I'm a retired police officer and have many guns. Why would anybody need a 30 round magazine for an SD40VE?Yes I also am an NRA member for many years.

The only reason I could think of would be for range use. You don't have to reload that often. Other than that 30 rnd. mags in a handgun are useless IMO, too long to carry concealed.
Even if you would carry open it would be pretty awkward.
I do have the Apex +3 extension for my SD9VE that gives me 19 +1 instead of 16 +1.
But if I would carry my SD it would be holstered with the standard mag and the extended would be the back-up mag.

I really think that the only good use for 30 round pistol mags is in pistol caliber carbines. I hear a lot of Glock owners tout the fact that Glock makes a 31/33 round magazine for their 9mm's and that they can carry it as a spare with their Glock 26 or 19. I have tried this and it is a terrible idea. Not only is the magazine large and heavy, it won't fit in many magazine carriers.
I would rather carry two 15 round mags than one 30 round magazine because if I ever need to drop the mag and clear a malfunction I will have another ready to go.
SD series magazines are too expensive to cut apart and weld anyhow.

Nobody yet. Promag may eventually, but I doubt it will work very well.

Geoff
Who has a couple of 33 round mags for his Glock 19, and I'm looking at the Ruger 9mm Carbine intently....$509...?

Since this thread has come back from the dead I must amend my statement in 2014. SD9VE magazines are cheaper and I have indeed cut them and soldered back together but only to make them shorter for my cut down SD9VE compact. I would imagine it would be just as easy to cut them to make a 30 round magazine but I wouldn't have a need for it.
