Default Takedown lever issue

I have an issue that has my SD benched for now as my edc. My takedown lever is stuck in a down position. I was at the range last night and noticed ssomething didn't feel right. I pulled the may. Cleared the chamber of the llive round. Double checked it was clear. Dry fired and mmy slide came right off like I was ffield stripping. Once off it popped right back up where it was ssupposed to be. I reassembled. Now its stuck about halfway down and I am able to push forward a bit so the slide goes forward about a 1/2 inch. I would hate to think my barrel is the issue. But that could be I suppose. I have put many rounds tthrough it with no hiccups. Ill post pics later but was curious if anyone had this issue. I've tinkered with it some and will look more at it this evening after work. Any ideas on what I should ttry? It seems to me anyways the guide rod is touching the ttakedown lever causing it. To depress when I assemble the slide to frame

The first thing that comes to my mind is, is the recoil rod assembly in the proper position? Or, has it dropped down off the barrel slightly? Your recoil spring may be getting weak, and not staying retained against the barrel as it should.

Just a thought...pictures would help!

Could be the spring for the take down lever.? Very strange that it would break or lose spring tension though. I'm curious to know what you find out.

I've found that there is a little grove across the TOP tab of the takedown lever that ruins across the width of the gun. This is not the slot for the spring but rather a little groove. It has to be facing the rear of the gun. If the lever has been taken out at some point and replaced with the groove toward the front, the edges of the groove can dig into the polymer and I can see it causing a hang-up. Try taking the take-down lever out and turn it around to see if that might help.

This disassembly design was cloned from GLOCK.

The leaf spring that applys upward pressure on the dissasembly latch can break & fail.

I've never had it happen on any of my S&W SD9VE's, but "HAVE" had it happen on one of my GLOCK 19's.

It only takes about 3-5 minutes to change it out, but is one of those things you wish you had 3 hands to do it with.

Did you figure out what the issue was? I'm just curious what the frame looks like right in front of the take down lever.
