Default SDVE magazines

If you are looking for magazines for your SDVE, Greg Cote LLC has them in stock...$33.95 + $6.95 shipping. I just ordered one on 8/7, and it was in my mailbox on 8/9. Can't beat that!

(No, I don't work for him...he's just good to do business with, and I never can find these magazines locally.)

Yes they are almost impossible to find, but 40.90 is a lot to pay for a mag to a $300 gun. I was lucky & found a Sigma mag that works. Guess I will stay with 3 that will almost empty a box of ammo real fast, but thanks for the info

The Sigma mags DO work. You can even change the Sigma base plate to a base plate for a SDVE magazine. I called S&W and they sent me a couple for free.

There is a very slight difference in the two magazine bodies, but it doesn't affect function...the depression of the front surface of the Sigma magazine body, right before the top opening, is slightly more shallow than the one on the SD magazine, but both lock in and function the same in a SD.

I don't mind paying $40 for a quality magazine...and these are...so they are worth it to me.

I'm sure they are quality mags & sure that is close to going price for them. I think I paid $34 for the Sigma mag, it does feel a little harder to click in but I have gotten used to it.
Not knocking the deal at all.
This thing with mags in general does make me wonder why the manufactures of weapons don't get it in gear & make more of them available.
We also have a M&P9c & have yet to find any mags for it.

I know there are all sorts of reasons why this isn't possible, but I wish that all plastic pistols would take the same style magazines, like 1911s do. That would be a good deal!

I know that Mec-Gar makes OEM mags for a lot of guns...looks like they could make them available on the open market...or some other big company could make them. I think that gun manufacturers have been churning out production so much over the past few years to meet the demand, that the first priority has been for them to keep mags for themselves so they can put them in the boxes with the guns. It is frustrating, I admit, not to be able to find magazines for a gun that has been out in production for several years now (like the M&P 9c.) You expect that with a brand new on the market gun.

I picked up 2 of these (Greg Cote) last week to kind of even out the shipping. I got them for my SD9ve and they look to be S&W mags as well. Very pleased with the quick and reasonable shipping, sure beats some online stores that seem to charge as much or more for shipping than the product costs. Ended up $37.95 ea including shipping. Nothing local to be found.

Guess I'm fortunate that 3-4 LGS have the SD9/SD40 mags in stock. Cheapest is $35, rest are $40. At $35 + tax, that's $37.45 each and I can walk in, buy and take them with me. I don't think I've seen them online for the price GKC posted, the shipping eats up the savings :-(

Just in case anyone was wanting some used Sigma 9mm 16s, Mark at Summit Gun Broker still has them for $25 each. I forgot how much S&H was over a year ago when I got a few but it wasn't much and was the same regardless of the number you ordered. The 3 I got were pre-ban LE-only, great condition w/ lime green followers lol. All are still going strong today, I just polished them up a bit to make them sparkle. I may have actually gotten the tip on this board, too. .40s are the same price.

Here's the post I mentioned them in:

SD9VE, from gritty trigger to broken striker

The last 4 I bought came from Academy Sports for $39.99 + tax or $41.20 each out the door.

I always look at the total out of pocket cost. Price for the product + shipping+ taxes (if applicable)

An example: My LGS has mags for the SD for $39.99 + 7% sales tax. Total of $42.79.

An online retailer has it for $35 +7.95 shipping. Total of 42.95...

To me, it makes sense to buy from the LGS, unless I am buying more than 5 or 6 mags...

I've checked at my local Academy Sports several times, and only once did I find a SD9VE magazine. At $39.95 plus tax (at 8.25%) that comes to $43.25 out the door. Ordering them from Greg Cote LLC (who almost always has them in stock) I pay $34.95, no tax, and $6.95 shipping (whether I buy one or several) for a total of $41.90. This doesn't take into account the gas I spend driving 60 miles (round trip) to the nearest Academy Sports. I've not tried to order one online from Academy, but I'd imagine I'd have to pay tax plus shipping.

As impatient as I am, I'd probably go buy mags from Academy if they had them, but Greg Cote usually has them and he ships very fast. I don't work for the man, and I don't get any referral fees or perks...I just like his service.

Are the factory sd9ve magazines stainless steel or chrome plated? I just bought an sd9ve a couple of weeks ago and have been impressed with the gun and magazine. For the price, $299, it seems to be an excellent edc gun.

I believe they are stainless steel. I don't know what the current prices are, since I haven't owned a SD series pistol in a while, but the magazines were very good (or were, when last I owned them.)

Yeah, I also believe they are highly polished SS. They slide in and out of the grip very well, but are a tad slippery in the hand.

I can't help but to have made the observation that the sd9ve appear to be of a higher quality than the ones that come with the M&P series. The high polish on the magazines certainly does add a little flair to the sd9ve. It is an added touch I was not expecting on a $300 gun that appears to be of service quality.

My guess would be electroless nickle plating.
