First off, I don't dislike the feel of my new SD9VE.

But have looked at a few options, since I have Hogue grips on my other 2 semi-autos. Hogue Handall looked pretty similar to what I'm used to. Then I found a link to Talon Grips. My only concern with an adhesive wrap, do they stay put, or start to peel off and become an ugly nuisance?

Anyone here add anything to their SD series pistols?

i ordered TUFF! gun grip covers for my SD9 seems like they are easy to install and stay put, also im posed to be able to swap them between all my pistols, guess ill see when they come in. good luck

I have had both the Pachmayr and Hogue grip sleeves on my SDVEs, and didn't really care for them. They seemed to be a bit too bulky, and didn't feel like they fit in my hand at the right places. I don't like adhesive add-ons, since I like the ability to remove my grip sleeve if I want to.

I found this product, which isn't really anything more than a glorified inner-tube, but it does work very well. It's very comfortable, and the alternating "ridges" add traction...which you won't find on an inner-tube. It comes two to a package, and the price is very low, IMO.

They used to make a "smooth" model, without ridges, which I've also had, but I like this one better.

I have a set of Traction grips on mine for over 18 months. No issues with them yet. I like the lack of bulk yet firm grip they provide.
Similar to a talon grips. Ordered through Amazon.

I also put a set on my Keltec P3AT that I carry everyday and they have held up really well.

Don't laugh guys, as I also own a Hi-Point 40. I found the grip while large, just wasn't grippy enough for my hands.

My WalMart carried Uncle Mike's slip-on grips for pistols. I believe it's Black Hawk grips as a supplier they carry now. They had small, med, and large sleeves for whatever size grip you needed. The grips also had builtin finger grooves which was a plus. The grip was around $6.99 I believe. Has worked for over 4yrs now.

I have Talon grips -- the rubberized ones -- on my SD9VE. They've been the perfect addition for me.

I forgot to say that I have had Talon grips on other guns. They have stayed exactly where you put them if you follow the instructions and clean the grip and then seal them in place with a little heat from a hair dryer. The ones on my other guns have been there a couple of years. The ones on my SD have been there only a month or two, but have gone through several cleanings and have had enough lubricant on them that I really don't have any concerns with them coming off.

I won't laugh...I've been considering buying a Hi Point myself, although I was thinking about the .45; maybe I should consider the .40, since ammo is readily available. They get good reviews for reliability, and Hi Point's CS is supposed to be excellent. The sell in a local shop for $140.

JWH, that's a really nice look on your SD9VE! That's what I'm after. Stopped by a LGS today after work and they had 3 different grip sleeves in stock, Hogue Handall, Pachmayer and Tuff-1. I opted to try the Hogue, since I'm familiar with the feel. Will let you know how installation goes

GKC, unless you've had a chance to have a Hi Point 45 in your hand, imagine holding a brick out at arms length; now imagine that brick has a trigger

I handled one in a LGS and that was my first thought-a brick with a trigger! I know a guy at work who has the 9C (compact); uses it for nightstand/HD gun. They do get high marks for reliability and CS, but they are butt ugly and heavy! I guess as long as they go bang, looks aren't everything

Actually, I have held a few in local shops, in all the calibers...I've never fired one. A Hi-Point .45 feels better in my hand than a Glock 21!

I was considering buying one because it's so inexpensive, looks like it would be fun to tinker around with, it is (by most accounts) a reliable and fairly accurate handgun. Besides, if I break it, from what I hear HP is extremely good about fixing things owners do to their guns.

As an update, I installed the Hogue Handall on my SD9VE last night.
First I tried leaving it in warm water to soften it up before installation-that didn't work.
Next I tried what Hogue recommends on youtube-window cleaner w/ammonia. Instead of spraying the gun grip/frame, I sprayed a little on the inside of the grip. Once I got it started, no problem at all! Adjusted till I was happy and all seems good. Checked again this morning and everything seems to be in place.
Will try to get out and fire a few rounds, now has the same basic feel as my Ruger P89DC and SR1911-both have Hogue wrap around grips installed. Good thing is, if I want to make a change, I just take it off and try something else :-)

I went to a gun show with the express purpose of buying a hi-point. the first tables I came to were two doubled up with about 200 used hi-points. At that time a new one was $180.
I found a dealer selling the SD9ve for $299 I am so glad I got the S&W.

After over two years & 3000 rounds I think I may just break my piggy bank & reward my SD9ve with a set of those rubber grips made for it.

Talon grips here. Works just fine for me.
