Default SW40VE sear block 2 spring removal

My dad's next door neighbor has a SW40VE pistol and he absolutely hates the trigger on it. I told him that I had seen YouTube videos where a couple springs were removed from the sear block mechanism and it is supposed to help reduce the trigger pull.

Have any of you forum members done this mod where the pigtail spring and outer sear spring is removed?

Some just remove the pigtail spring, does it help much with reducing the trigger pull?

How did it work out overall for you?

I did it to my 9mm, removed the pig tail, at first removed the outer spring, left it like that, it worked fine. I didn't like the fact that the remaining inner spring wasn't supported, looked like it was bending. Installed a much lighter outer spring than the stock one, a couple thousand rounds later, it's still much better. Polishing the sear block that slides on the plastic piece, (with the gun unloaded, slide off, pull the trigger and watch how things work, you'll see it), make sure to lube that area also. The inside of the sear block where the small pin rides, should be smoothed also, it's tough to find something small enough to get in there but it's worth it.

His gun is really dirty, he told me he hasn't cleaned it in years. I'm going to get rid of the pigtail spring, put in a 3.5 lb. striker spring that I have ordered and give it a good cleaning.

get the galloway trigger spring kit and do the cleanup of the trigger parts. drop the pig tail spring and drop in the galloway springs. makes the gun a different gun. all most like a glock trigger pull in pull weight,, about six pounds.

WOW! Removing the pigtail spring and adding the Wolff 3.5 striker spring made a tremendous difference in this gun. Don't have access to a trigger pull gauge, but the trigger has to be several pounds lighter and feels much smoother, not as gritty feeling either. I did not touch the trigger return spring or the outer sear spring or striker block spring. A good cleaning didn't hurt either.
