I can't answer your question, zaataer13, but try not shouting (all caps) and maybe someone will pick up on your question.

Check Youtube. There are videos on the MP series, may be one for your postol, too.

Good luck!

I haven't found any videos on Youtube that show the CA version. I have that model and can try to take some pictures if it will help.

I have communicated with Apex suggesting they revise their installation video to include the CA version but there seems to be no interest on their part.

I had the same problem when I did the Apex spring and trigger swap. The spring and lever popped out when I took out the sear. I went to my local gun range and looked one of their display models to see how the lever and spring go back in. The lever goes under the loop of the spring as the back feet of the spring go the back of the sear. Ill post a pic later this afternoon.

The only problem I have now is that when i cock the gun, with an empty mag in, no rounds in the chamber, Ill pull the trigger and there is no click, pull again, no click. Maybe on the third or fourth pull of the trigger, I hear the click.

Any ideas?

X-ray anybody?

[I posted this in another thread but it's appropriate here also]

I worked one summer in Long Beach Naval Shipyard and one of my jobs was to X-ray welds on ships using a portable X-ray unit. In between jobs we X-rayed things for fun because we could adjust the voltage to match the job. I used to have an X-ray of my watch but it's long gone.

Anyhow, I wonder whether anyone on this list has the means to X-ray an SD VE gun to see exactly how the parts lay out when it is assembled and in various positions? I would like to know exactly where the end of the guide rod is when the slide is open and when it is closed, and would like to see the position of the striker and it's links when the gun is in various conditions.

I know it can be done but it might take several shots with different exposures and voltages to get all the details. The plastic parts are relatively transparent to X-rays. The metal parts would require higher voltages and longer exposures. Not sure that modern X-ray systems, mostly all digital, have such controls, but if someone has the ability to get some shots it would probably help all of us and cover several questions that we have asked.

I am on the 4th email exchange with S&W trying to find out why there is a different procedure for taking down a CA compliant model. So far all responses have not been helpful. I explained that I had taken mine down, forgetting to do the extra steps at least once, and folks on S&W forum had reported the same thing. I said I would like to post the reason for the other owners. Typical answers:

It's strong, probably no problem.
It should be O.K.
A prepaid return label is included so you can send your gun in for inspection.
There are separate procedures. Here is a link to download the manual.

I won't quote my various responses to them but if I ever get an answer I will post it here. As for the two different procedures I cannot see nor feel a difference between them and nothing in the gun is bent or displaced.

Are you having problems putting the gun back together? I was able to put mine back together after looking at the same gun at my local gun shop. Let me know if you need any help.

No problems in putting the gun back together. I have not taken it down beyond the level in the manual.

The issue I have is that there have been several posts on this forum about problem with the magazine safety, etc. I would like to know why there is a special procedure for taking down the guns with the magazine safety and would then post the reason on an appropriate thread here.

Some folks have reported that they failed to notice the special procedure and I also forgot to do it once. I have since done it with and without the special procedure and can't see any difference and don't see any parts moved, bent, or damaged if the special procedure is not used. S&W says it won't hurt the gun if the special procedure is not followed.

Surely someone at S&W knows why there is this special procedure is in the manual. I've had 4 different non-answers to my specific and carefully phrased question.

If anyone here knows why there is a separate procedure please post the reason. If anyone here has a better contact at S&W please ask why the special procedure is required.

For those who removed the sear block of a California Compliant SD9(40)VE and had a part fall out known as the magazine disconnect safety, They are connected by the pin, and a spring holds the lever down. I lined up the disconnect lever to the sear block under the spring loop, then I used a flat head screw drive to push the coils down evenly to line up the holes to place the pin back into the sear block.
