Default anyone buy the 32rd mag for sd9ve from gunclip.net.?

i Got one but the thing is so tight and I'm sure that they sold me an m&p mag for sure because pro mag doesn't have any mags for sd9ve or sd40. Is there any other way to get a nice extended mag for this weapon. Would love to go to the range and test it.

If it was made by S&W or another reputable manufacturer then it might be ok, otherwise stay clear of companies such as promag that make mag that just don't work. In other words buyer be ware.

Why would someone want a 32 round magazine in a handgun?

I'm not trying to be critical, just puzzled.

I'll second that...I mean I guess just for range fun, but honestly I'd rather have another stock mag that would be more useful than a 32 rounder...then again it's a free-market and if he's got the $

Sorry it doesn't fit though, that does suck..

My CCL trainer went through a demonstration of how a LE person could do a second magazine insertion by having a spare between two fingers in his right [primary] hand.

I bought a couple of extra magazines just for range use. In real life I assume that if 10-16 rounds doesn't work for me I would have already lost the battle.

If you can't stop a bad guy with 16 rounds, better run.

Seriously, you can send money down range pretty quick with a 9mm handgun, I like to go slow these days and take my time. I just have no need for a magazine like that, but if you like it, I think it's great.

I have used ProMag mags forever. I have never had a problem with a mag from them. In fact they have a lifetime guaranty that is 100% on the money. Last month when I was at the range with my Sig P220. I noticed that a couple of the 8 round promag mags were feeding a big sluggish. And I have no idea how old they are either. But they are OLD. I called PROMAG and they sent me replacement springs ASAP at NO cost. That's a damn good company. And just so you know. S&W have their mags made for them. I know because they told me last week that SD40 mags are on back oder from the factory they get them from...so, what's your beef with PROMAG?

I'm glad to read someone out there is having good results with Promags. Everyone else has absolutely nothing good to say about them. I've tried a few with SIG's over the years and didn't like them due to unreliability issues.

PeterPocket pointed me to a link describing the effect of taper in the Parabellum/Luger cartridge.

You will surely need a curved magazine to properly handle that many rounds. After reading the article I'm amazed that any 9mm gun feeds reliably at all.

I think he would not mind posting the link here:

The 9mm Automatic: A Better 9mm Cartridge | Shooting Times

Have a look!

One should show respect for a PhD, but Dr. Miller appears to have come up with a solution for an apparently non-existent problem.

The 9mm Luger (Parabellum) has been around 113 years, longer than the 1911, and continues to be numero uno in sales world wide.

If shell casing "taper" were a problem I doubt this would be the case.

It would be interesting to compare the angle of the magazine follower on a 9mm with one on a SW40.

Take a look down the thread "SD9ve Need Expert advice plz". Read all the way down for some expert comments about 9mm.

Based on some knowledge about Naval ammunition design, it seems to me that the taper on the Parabellum cartridge was done to aid extraction and gun designers, and users, have to make the best of it.

Given all factors, I still selected 9mm and so far have not experienced the failure to feed or stovepipe feeds reported on this forum by others. I'm old but my gun is young, so maybe with more rounds I will see some of those problems. It seems to me that S&W has gone to a highly angled magazine follower to mitigate the taper issue.

I posted a link and picture showing the effect of the taper in Parabellum round. Just before my short hospital visit I did a similar line up of rounds and the curvature was less than shown in the article.

I can't drive for a couple of days but when I can I'll get down to the store and document the magazine follower angles in an SD9 vs SD40 unless someone does it first. I want to see whether S&W uses a steeper angle in the 9mm version.

I am curious also as to some reliable 30rnd mags. To the people asking why someone would want one, I think they are completely viable. If you are in your car, stuck in traffic and a Rodney King event happens, a few 30rnd mags for your pistol might just get you home. You might as well ask why do you need 30 rnd mags for an Ar-15.

If that were a concern for me I would just carry an AR-15 or clone.

30 9mm Luger rounds would require a curved magazine because the cases are tapered.

just a note on the couple comments about a 9mm mag needing to be curved to handle 32 rounds....not true....Glock makes a 32 round stick that I received as a freebie from a friend, and it works well. I also have a 30 round stick mag for my 5906 that works well too. I haven't had any malfunctions with either. They are impractical for my uses and just a shooting range novelty to me, but they were free to me-so I have tried them several times and let friends also try them for fun. I think my 5906 mag is a cheap promag or other unmarked mag, but none the less, it works. Maybe they were made for police or military apps, don't know. Cheers....

MecGar of Italy makes the "Original factory magazines" for many of the top companies around the world. Depending on the terms of their contracts, they may or may not also sell them under their own name.
S&W is one that they only sell through S&W. I have some magazines marked MecGar that fit Browning pistols.

Although I have some "long stick" aftermarket magazines for other brands that work reasonably well, I have never found aftermarket (non MecGar) magazines for the S&W SW/SD/M&Ps that were reliable enough for me to use for any serious purpose.

As an aside, I have noticed some users of aftermarket "long sticks" seem very tolerant of a jam every mag or two, describing them as reliable. Just as some casual shooters think they have a reliable setup until they get in a timed match.

Yup, I do see a 33 round magazine at Midway for Glock 9mm and it's perfectly straight. $34.99 but out of stock.

I'm kinda late but with a little customizing the promag xd 32 rd will work on the sdve9. You have to switch the follower on the promag with a follower from original sdve9 magazine & lightly trim it off to make a tight fit.

Cant help you with thirty but if you can find some SW9 17 round mags (they work in the SD series too) and get the apex tactical +3 base plate you have 20 per mag.

Wait are you saying its against the law to carry a spare magazine in CO? Or just stating you have 15 round mag limits?

What you may have seen was a 32 round magazine for a SD9VE. I will guarantee you no one makes a 32 round (or any other round) clip for a SD9VE.

I think folks are trying to tell you that a clip and a magazine are not the same thing.

The SD series uses a magazine to hold.

The M1 Garand rifle uses a clip to load.

Look them up.

(This comes up about every six months, so you are not alone.)

The taper of 9mm Luger rounds is more of an issue in single stack mags that double stack. A double stack mag narrows at the bullet end to compensate for the taper.
