Last eve was able to unjam snapcaps from barrel & chamber. Today slide wont lock open. Did i break something? N n

You didn't advise what model gun so can only advise to check you slide stop and mag follower and see if you damaged something

If not, are you holding the slide lock up when releasing the slide after racking it open?

The slide lock spring normally pushes it down (unlock) position. It has to be pushed up by magazine or manually to lock slide open.

An empty mag needs to be in place for the slide lock to work on its own. Otherwise you have to push up on the lever when pulling the slide to the rear.
