Just finished the grip reduction, stippling and 12 round magazine
Took some of the trigger guard down and the beaver tail for a better fit

Nice work! I really wish S&W would offer a compact version of the SD.
ETA: How did you modify your mags?

It's easier for the M&P and glock owners because they just grab magazines for the compact models and call it done but on the SD you have to make your own

Nice work on the stippling but the grip reduction would be to short for my hands.
You might try undercutting the trigger guard so you can get a little higher grip on the gun.
I did my guard and also the beavertail reduction and it made a BIG difference on controlling my .40.
I also put finger grooves in the frame like the old ones had for the take down lever, that made a BIG difference also but the warranty went out the window

Thanks and I already did the trigger guard and beavertail before that I could only get 2 fingers now the pinky fits a bit better. I have small hands so for me it's not a problem and I could have cut it at an angle to where it fits more like a compact inside my palm but I just kept the angle the SD comes with.

This is a M&P compact in the hand notice how the rear of the grip is longer because of the angle at the bottom of the grip and it has an extended base to fit the pinky I really don't need either of those areas to get a comfortable grip.

You're welcome I know the price is what draws people to this gun just sucks that they are not compact but there is a way to fix that problem I usually buy Sigs but the price and the idea drove me to get this one this time.

Finally made it to the range today shot about 120 rounds with no issues with either magazine so I can call it a successful build.

You should try a M&P compact base plate on your SD9K. Even though the M&P mag is wider the base plate has worked with no problems on my SD9K for almost 5 years. I'm more surprised that my silver soldered magazine has held up for that long as I leave it loaded.

The SD9 magazine is at a 90* angle to the floor plate, almost all modern firearms magazines reduce that angle so the floor plate is parallel with the slide axis. The only other modern pistol that comes to mind with 90* angle mags is the Steyr S, M, L series.

I just cut the mag down and replicated the tabs by bending the side of the mag again everything slides back on and off like original

I cant remember exactly but I think I tried some test bends and couldn't get it to my satisfaction so I decided to cut out a section and solder the bottom back on. More work than necessary but I can tweak the length of the magazine easily this way.
I like your new SD9 with the beveled cut, it reminds me of the CZ P-10C. Now that S&W has the 2.0 compact with 4 inch barrel it's pretty close to the SD9 although I wish they would make it the same thickness as the SD9 in 9mm.

Yes I think you're right about it being like the 2.0 in size and yes getting those tabs on the mags can be a pain

Great looking gun. S&W needs to come out with a compact version of SD9VE.

It would be cool but I don't see it happening. The SD9VE is a refined version of S&W's original polymer framed striker fired handgun the Sigma series. I think if anything happens with the line it will be phased out when M&P costs come down to the point that it competes with the SD9VE or when S&W introduces a budget version of the M&P that uses the same magazines as regular M&Ps. Sort of like how Ruger discontinued the P95 and offered the model 9E which is a budget version of the SR9.
Besides, if S&W made a compact, what fun would it be to make your own?
