Apex Trigger Spring Kit...
Well, I installed the Apex kit in my SD40VE on Monday. Last week I went over the trigger bar/linkage and hit everything that had metal to metal contact with some 1200 grit paper and Flitz polish. EXCEPT for the sear and hook on the striker. I got it a lot smoother with the polishing, but I wanted to get the pull down some more. A guy I work with has a Lyman trigger gauge, so I borrowed it from him. Gotta say that I like what I saw. I did a few different series of 10 test pulls, then hit the average button on the gauge. I got an average between 6lb 1oz to 6lb 4oz. The lowest reading I got was 5lb 15oz, and I think the highest was 6lb 7oz. This thing is baby smooth now. Loving the trigger on it! Now to get the time to hit the range again soon...
L8R,
Matt

Would appreciate follow-ups as you get rounds downrange. I've been thinking about either the spring kit, or maybe just the Polymer SD trigger for mine.
I'm hesitant about the spring kit with more than one report about light strikes.
Overall I'm OK with the stock pull weight, but the shape of the stock trigger is not the best for me. That's why thinking about the polymer one as it appears less curved and methinks it may give a bit more direct leverage.

We love our SD9/40s!
AnthemBassman,
Don't forget to polish the outer edge of the trigger bar. This metal bar slides along the right hand side of the inner frame. On the SD models they are flush against the frame. I polished this after seeing a friends SW model that was worn where it met the first stand off. These stand offs are not on the SD model.
SCWV67,
Wife & I went to the range today we each now have over 1000-1200 rounds through our SD9/40VE's About half prior to Apex Spring kit, half since. We both highly recommend polishing the meet points and a spring kit. With the lighter trigger pull the muzzle doesn't waive nearly as much as it did. If you remove it you've only lost $20, and can probably resell it.

Yeah, I polished that flat part that ruins along the inside of the frame. Almost looks like a piece of chrome now. I may pull it back apart and hit it with some 5000 grit that I use to polish guitar frets. It will definitely have a mirror finish after that!

Matt

According to Apex, the combo of polymer trigger and springs will get you to the 5.5 range. Had on my SW40VE and sold, them moved trigger to wives SD9VE. Waiting on spring kit to arrive monday.

I'm pretty happy with where it is now. I also checked my Wife's Taurus 85. Double action pulls were 11lbs 3oz, and single action was 3lbs 2oz.
