If you want something that looks awesome you can always Cerakote it in multi colors. Alternatively you can buy a Beautiful custom 1911 from Terry:

Tussey Custom - Custom pistols with distinctive appearance and innovative design!

I saw one he did for his dad, came in a glass display case. Beautiful!

If you simply want a self defense gun instead of something to display to your friends, why not settle for what you own now?

I applied Graphite Black Cerakote to a spare SD9VE slide and barrel that I bought and it looks really good. No issues with function and it is extremely durable.

Check out the Blackened Stainless option at: Firearm Finishes, Custom Weapons, Gunsmithing | Robar
They do superior work. If you strip the sights and parts off your slide before you send it end that will reduce the cost.
