Default Magazine rattles

Sorry if this is a repost, but I can't get the search feature to work right. Anyway I just picked up a brand new sd40ve today and I loaded up the mags to capacity to break in the springs. My question is, is the horrible rattling normal? It sounds like the floor plate is just hanging out and bouncing around. Just a little irritating.

Seems to be normal with the .40.

I don't own one anymore, but I fixed the rattle in mine by swapping the spring and follower (I think I did both) with those of a glock .40 mag and it silenced it right up.

I posted a thread a while back, I'm sure it's floating around in the basement of the forum.

I believe there's another trick as well.

Occasional magazine rattle is prevalent in all brands, be they single or double stack.

I've got multiple Colt, SIG, Kimber, Springfield, Beretta and Chip McCormick brands to name a few and there's at least one in each pile that will rattle. All of which in spite of it are 100% reliable.

It's muchadoaboutnuthing...

Yes it's normal. Some will rattle when loaded and some when it's shy one round. My Glock 19 mags hold 15 rounds and don't rattle. Take one away and it rattles quite a bit. Take one more away and no more rattle

Yeah, it's normal. With the double stack filled to capacity one stack will be held tightly against the feed lips by the follower and the other stack is just loose enough to slide back and forth in the magazine tube. It's just the way the rounds stack up.

If you carry you won't hear it. You also don't hear it when shooting. Basically all the main stuff

My M&P .40 magazines have the same rattle. I've been told it's normal and it's nothing to worry about.
