Default You tube SW9VE spring mod by removal

I shot my recently bought used SW9VE (Serial # RBDxxxx....so I think it was manufactured around 08 or 09) yesterday and it was a great experience . The trigger is far better than some I have felt in the Sigma line but I do however want a smoother and less pull required on the trigger, and checking the pistol I see no mods have been done. I know this is ancient history to most of you, but did not see a post on the removal of the trigger pigtail and outer trigger springs plus polish the sear mechanism like I saw in YouTube. Has anyone done this, and is it 1...how long does the single spring last vice the dual spring.... and 2 ....does it really make that much of a difference?

I did the youtube mod a few years ago, (''Making a silk purse from a sow's ear I think was the title from the one I did). My results were great, lightened and smoothed out the trigger quite a bit. My brother in law has the same gun so I am able to compare. Originally, I left it with just the single inner spring. It worked fine, the single spring worried me a bit, with no support, it seemed like it 'wobbled' around, bent more than I wanted to see but it worked. Smoothing out the inside slot of the sear is tricky because it's really a small slot. I eventually put a light second bigger spring back just for support of the smaller inner spring. I've shot thousands of rounds through it, shot it today, side by side with my wife's M&P. The Sigma still impresses me! No question, the M&P has a better trigger. My brother in law put the Apex trigger kit into his gun, I haven't gone shooting with him since he upgraded it, that might be the best way to go. Many people have done the "youtube" trigger 'upgrade' and have had no bad issues.

Default The YouTube trigger mod one the SW9VE complete

I did the trigger mod by removing the 2 springs, polishing the sear and sear housing this afternoon. A shorter trigger pull would be nice, but it is not that bad. The single spring does bother me a little, it just looks flimsy in the housing. I did notice a slight crack in the sear lower edge, have to get one someplace, but I do not think it is unsafe to shoot. Going to shoot tomorrow , the trigger feels much better than before. Grittiness gone and the pull much smoother.
