Default apex trigger for sd9ve - update

well broke down and picked it up. Watched the vids a bazillion times, took a bit of "finis" yet I got it all back together, biggest issue was the slide lock for me, will take it to the range tomorrow yet I already see such a great difference its unreal. Especially with my weak hand and snap caps. Also put a touch of night glow orange on the front white dot. Thanks to everyone on the forum. Don't know if I would have tried this without everything else I've read. think I'm leaving all the springs stock, dont seem to be a need to change then now. Oh yes biggest break was it fit with no adjustments needing to be made of the back of the trigger. woohoooo

ok put 250 rounds of 115gr brass and aluminium casings. No issues, much better groupings for sure even with weak hand. only issue is slide did not lock back after last round more than a few times and it was read to fire like there was a round on the chamber. other than that no complaints

Great! Please update with a range report when you put some rounds through it with the new trigger!

The debate with the SD is always -- how much time and money do you want to spend to "turn it into a M&P?" Not literally, but to improve the trigger in particular. Trigger... recoil spring... sights... etc.

It's worth it if you really like the feel of the SD -- it is a great, relatively thin, very reliable pistol -- and have the resources as well as the desire to improve it. Or keep it stock. I like the idea of keeping mine minimalistic, and keeping the expense down -- it cost me $275! But I admit I have a Galloway recoil rod/spring and their takedown lever (that's magic, if you have problems with the original one like I did), which added another $42 or so to the cost.

Just a great pistol for the price, either way. I'm tempted to get another one!

Congrats on your Apex trigger. It does wonders to the pistol!
On my SD40VE, I've installed the Galloway 22lb guide rod, reduce power spring set (minus striker spring) and also added a trigger stop to the trigger bar to eliminate an extra 1/8in of trigger over travel. Last but not least, an M&P factory rear site (the one with the ledge)

With all these mods, it fits me. I love it...I actually shoot my SD40VE more than my M&P40.

Lately I've been contemplating on selling my M&P and purchasing 2 SD9VEs. I'm in California, so all Smith & Wesson pistols will no longer be available to purchase. Except some revolvers.

Be ready to fall deeply in love with your pistol!!

[QUOTE=S&W Rover;138722257]Great! Please update with a range report when you put some rounds through it with the new trigger!

The trigger is sweet. Should have thought to polish things a bit, much better groupings, easier on the weak hand. 25 ft all 9's. slide was not locking open on last shot sometimes and trigger was ready to shoot like there was a round in the chamber. Gave it a good cleaning and we'll see what happens next time around. 115gr Remington brass and aluminum. found out also when cleaning it the hogue grip had twisted so maybe it was the way I was holding it. could have been hitting the slide stop or something ...

I just purchased a SD9VE today. Decent gun for the money. I am assuming you are referring to the Apex trigger AND spring set or just the trigger.
