Default Cleaning

I was cleaning my SD and trying to find a way to get the gunk out of the spring in the frame in the front of the mag well. In my all metal guns I use brake cleaner. Leaves no film and gets the gunk out that's hard to reach. But I'm leery abut using it on the poly frame.I have an Outers spray but it says not to use on poly guns. Most comes out with compressed air just not all. No function problems just don't like a dirty gun.

Try some eezox in aerosol. Decent solvent and also lubes.

Are you talking about the trigger return spring? It has a insert of cotton or some such material in it. Looks like the end of a Q tip.

That "gunk" in the trigger spring is a fiber damper to prevent breakage from harmonic vibration. Leave it alone.

Should be ok if you are using the non chlorinated brake cleaner.
Even WD40 works as a cleaner.

Default cotton fiber in the trigger spring???

I purchased my SD9VE brand new a couple years ago and their was no cotton like fiber inside the trigger spring in front of the magazine. I'm guessing thats normal?"My SD40VE however does have the white cotton looking fiber in the trigger spring but I just recently purchased that gun like 2weeks ago brand new as well. So hhhmmm? lol!!
