Default Sd40ve USPSA

Guys... I have a sd40ve..i have a friend who shoots uspsa, it looks like a ton of fun. However in looking at the list of approved firearms the sd40ve isn't listed... However the sw40ve is.. Hoping it's an oversight, old list, or something. Other than purchasing a new firearm.. What are my options if I wanted to participate?

Hey, Cyklops

I have a buddy that shoots uspsa with his SD40VE without any hassle.

That list is missing many models that are approved.

When in doubt of one that is not listed, the guy to contact is Troy McManus who has the final sayso

^^^^^
What he said.
I noticed that they do list the Sigmas and SW9's and SW40's so they may class the SD as a Sigma, which it isn't.

I contacted IPSC about the SD9VE not being on the production list. They messaged me back saying it would be reviewed for the updated list in April. I know IPSC and USPSA run somewhat different rules for Production but their gun lists seem pretty much the same. Maybe USPSAs list will be updated at the same time.

I contacted Troy McManus on 8/16/2016 by email because my SD9VE is not on the USPSA Production Division List. His reply, "Probably because S&W has not submitted the paperwork to have it approved." I opened a support ticket with Smith and Wesson. No reply. I managed to get a department and a name at Smith and Wesson. Many calls and voice mails later, no reply. Does anyone know who I should contact?

It's probably not on the list because it's not a good trigger for competition, so hardly anyone would desire it. You might want to consider the cost of these competitions before going further because a good trigger makes a big difference

The SD series has a better trigger than the SW series, so I doubt that is the reason.

You can just shoot Limited Division, which requires no approval.
Only Production Division requires approval of specific pistol by make and model.
You aren't going to win anything in Limited with an SD, but unless your club is tiny, a beginner isn't going to win anyway.

Good advice about Limited Division. Someone at my club suggested the same last night. You are right about winning anything. I am not planning on it. Just looking to have fun. It's a good starter pistol at a low cost. I did invest in an Apex Tactical Trigger kit. With over a thousand rounds the trigger pull is down to 5.5 pounds.

Hmmm, she must have moved on, or, got fired. She had clout at S&W.

This morning I received an email from Laura Lavallee at Smith & Wesson that both the SD9VE and the SD40VE are now on the approved USPSA/NROI Production list. USPSA/NROI Production Gun List - USPSA - United States Practical Shooting Association.
