S&W SD9VE parts list (with part nmumbers)
I have done some reading on the forums but have not found information on the availability of SD9VE parts diagram and corresponding part numbers. Is there such a list (or diagram) that I can access or request? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

At this time there are none. Not even available from S&W (at least as of 5 months ago)

Dr. Denby, could you speculate as to the Company's reasoning for not having a parts diagram and part numbers for ordering same? I find it unusual.

I really don't know.
It is usual for one to be included in the owners manual. But, S&W decided not to include it in the SD series. Walther did the same too with a couple of their models.
However, one of the guys here to watch the pro bowl thinks that he heard that a diagram is now available from S&W but he is not sure and thinks he might be remembering wrong.
I think I will call tomorrow and see.

Really it was more of a poker night with the game on.
The womenfolk having a girls night out and us guzzling beer, eating snacks positively no good for us, and talking guns and superbowl and belching and farting without anyone caring.

They aren't going to release any parts to the public whether you be a gunsmith or otherwise. No need for parts diagrams or part #s.

Parts List Update
Update:
I called S&W
They are no longer including a parts list on ANY Smith and Wesson gun.
They have removed ALL parts lists.
They say it is for "liability" reasons.

I'm not an attorney but have managed a company that sold high energy metal forming equipment which used high voltage discharges to produce intense magnetic fields, intense enough to bend/form metal. You may drive a car or ride in an airplane which includes components assembled with the process. We never released diagrams nor sold repair parts for the equipment. We did all maintenance and service for "liability" reasons.
As you follow this forum you see post after post where an owner has modified his gun and reported a FTF or FTE, or some other problem. (Yes stock gun owners have reported those same problems, but far fewer than owners who have not modified their weapon.)
Some posts are by folks who have never fired or even held a pistol and are already making changes to their new gun. Is that a good idea? I don't think so.
I can't blame S&W for not releasing lists or selling parts, particularly in view of their lifetime warranty service. (I think it's "lifetime" anyhow.)

Think of all the folks that have opened up M&Ps to install Apex parts... The first time I did it, I lost the "takedown lever retaining wire" which is a small part that more or less just sits in place of its own accord until it, and locking block it fits in, are placed back inside the frame. That particular one is still on the floor of my garage somewhere, or maybe it was swept out on the driveway. I spent hours looking for it...
Thank goodness Speed Shooter Specialities stocked the part ($3.50) but I had to identify what it was first -- and for that, I used a parts schematic I found on the web.
I think perhaps most if not all parts should be available to the public... and we generally need schematics to know what to call the parts and order them. But I can see S&W's point of view.

I always find lost parts, even in the carpet, but only after I have found a replacement. One exception, a special bolt from the lawn mower, lost 5 years ago. I found the nut but not the bolt!

I'm no Glock fanboy but I think it's safe to say that Glock has had no "liability issues" in regards to making parts readily available. If they were worried about liability issues they wouldn't be in the gun business to begin with.

One thought - Glock has a factory in the US but they are not incorporated in the U.S.
Of course, VW isn't incorporated in the US but they do have EPA problems.

That doesn't protect them from liability issues. Toyota paid out billions in fines so even foreign owned companies that have USA subsidiaries are subject to the same laws.
Really it just boils down to what a companies legal council tells them to do.
