Default Low flying brass!!!!

I went to the range yesterday and shot my SD9VE. Not one failure as usual, however I was getting a lot of back at me empty casings and a lot of casing falling closer to my body than ever before.. Was shooting mostly 124 gr hollow points (75)...but a few 115 hp (maybe around 50-60) also. A few different manufactures including Federal, Freedommunnitions, and Perfecta. Never had this before....last cleaning/inspection was as always. Possible suggestions?

I have never had that happen with mine. Only once have I ever had one bounce off the stall side wall. Could that be what happened?

No sir, I was out in the open. A couple of empties actually came back and hit me in the shooting glasses. Like I said that was the first time it has happened. Waiting for a Tri Star C100 to be delivered to my FFL then I will clean it and take it and my SD to the range this weekend. .....Will go with Federal LE 124 HP and American Eagle in 115gr FMJ this time.

Seems like this has been discussed before. My first SD9VE outing was outside in the winter, even some mist/rain.

I was qualifying for my carry license and had the mandatory baseball cap, glasses, and ear protection. I was shooting Winchester white box.

I had to button my top shirt button to keep warm shells from going down my neck. I remember they were hot but they didn't leave burn marks.

The opinion of other shooters was that it would stop when the gun had been used a while. I suppose it did because it hasn't happened recently that I remember.

I just read in the CZ forum (From a post talking about a members SW9) that the recoil spring will loosen with time and eject the spent casing further. Still does not answer why this time and the other 3-4 times I have shot this SD it did not happen. Oh well, time will tell I guess.

Be sure to check under extractor and ejector for any built up crud , doesn't take much to interfere. I use an old dental pick to scrape under and around the tight spots.

My situation was with a brand new gun which I had cleaned when I got it.

It ejected in a backwards direction in the beginning - towards my face and shirt collar.

Strange because the geometry of the extractor and the prong on the left side should create a right and up trajectory.
