Default SW9VE

I have a Sigma that I am thinking of selling. What would be the value of a Sigma with a trigger job and a crowned and trotted barrel? Thanks for the help.

Around here, about $150 with one mag, unless the trigger mods affect reliability with +P ammo.
Hope the demand is better in WV than in OK for the SW9VE. Before they were discontinued, they were selling for $250 new on sale.
SD9VE new can be had under $300 on sale.

Wow, that is disheartening. These are good little guns.

...as in a lighter striker spring?

Are 9mm +P primers typically harder, than standard pressure?

Lighter striker spring causes failure to fire with various primers, found in different ammo without regard to +P.

But that's not the failure mode most common to removing the sear spring(s). This failure mode is failure to reset, turning the gun into a single shot with more powerful ammo while still functioning with ordinary range loads.

I've been using the SW9 and now SW9VEs for loaners and trainers for 20 years, and have tried about every non-destructive mod I've ever heard of. I also chatted with a fellow IDPA match director that works for S&W, concerning failure modes for various model triggers.

If you're really interested, this has to do with the relative speed of the slide with various powered ammo versus the recovery of the sear on the SW with modified/removed sear springs. With ammo that barely makes minor power, it is possible to remove or lighten a couple of the sear springs and get reset, only to find that with powerful defense ammo the slide comes back before the sear fully rises, and the striker misses the sear: failure to reset. Pulling the slide back 1/2" by hand and releasing gets you back into action. In stock form, the sear springs are more than powerful enough to get the sear back up before the slide comes forward, and is very reliable. Hope this explanation helps.

Since the SDs came out the SW9s aren't popular around here, especially unreliable ones.

Pardon my spelling "throated" . The beveling of the barrel just past the chamber to allow it to accept a variety of bullet and boolits.

Swapped my SW9VE for a Mil Spec Springfield 1911. Had to toss in a couple of bucks, not many. The Springfield was also used.
