Default My First Gun! SD9VE

Hello People,

I recently purchased the SD9VE from Academy Sports ($319). I could have waited a week to save $20, but I wanted it sooner. Last weekend I went to the range with a co-worker. He brought his 9MM a Colt 45, and a 357 Magnum. We had a great time. I only put 200 rounds into my gun before my time was up. I got home and prepared to clean my gun. I discovered that I could no longer remove the slide. Any thought, comments, or suggestions? I would appreciate any help you may offer.

Thanks,

KittyLickr:mad

Welcome aboard Kittylickr69.

First off, remove magazine and pull slide 3 times and physically look into chamber to be sure unloaded. This is my safety check to be sure of no A/D of any kind on any firearm.

Pull back on slide about 1/4" with one hand and hold, to relieve pressure on take-down plate and pull it down, then immediately pull trigger as if firing.

Without pulling trigger, the slide won't release itself. You'll immediately know slide is released as it will jump forward on it's own.

After a couple times of practice, you'll get the hang of how to wrap your hand around slide and frame to pull back slightly.

There's also some Youtubes on the procedure that may help if you need visual.
