Exclamation Unable to dissassemble SW40VE. Need help

I wanted to clean my SW40VE, I received a call and had to leave. I carefully put it together after slightly cleaning it and put it away. When coming home after work, I wanted to completely clean it. So, I pulled back on my slide, pulled down the release on the front, and the slide moves forward about a half inch and stops. Will not allow me to glide it off as in the past. Can anyone please help? I want to make sure it's still in proper working order and it needs to be properly cleaned. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Yes, I have tried dry firing it and trying again. I tried pull it all the way back and dry firing. I just need help to draw it off so it can be properly cared for. Please help

from sd9ve manual
With the pistol still pointing in a
safe direction and the slide
closed, pull the trigger once and
remove your finger from
the trigger and out of the trigger
guard (FIGURE 23).
• Move the slide approximately
1/4 ̋ to the rear and hold it firmly
in this position
(FIGURE 24).
• While holding the slide back
slightly, depress the takedown
catch (from both sides of the
frame) with your thumb and fore-
finger (FIGURES 25 & 26).
• Continue to hold the takedown
catch down while moving the
slide forward about half an inch
at which point the catch can be
released and the slide can be
taken off the frame.
• Remove the slide by pulling it for-
ward

The instruction manual disassembly is different if you have the magazine safety. On models with it you lock the slide back, lower the takedown lever(in the mag well)with the trigger held down, release the trigger, close the slide and proceed same as without the mag safety.
Hope this helps.

At the intersection. I'll try anything. I just want to ensure its fully functional. And if I can't take care of it. I'll take to a gun Smith around the corner to take a look

He has a SW 40 VE there is not a takedown lever in the magwell. They do not have a mag safety. Be Safe,

Man, I have run into this problem as well when trying to disassemble my SD40VE last night. Fiddled with it for about 20 minutes before giving up and going to bed. Have had the pistol about 4 months and about 500 rounds in it. Have cleaned it every time after shooting. Last time shot was beginning of December; cleaned and locked after. This was the first time taking it out since.

The slide has never been easy to take out, but this won't even move past the catch. I'll see if I can post a video later.

I just removed the slide on my Sigma SW9VE 5 times in a row. Remove the magazine, rack the slide pull the trigger till you hear the striker release pull back the slide slightly and pull down the slide stop so it is bottomed on both sides of the frame fully move the slide forward and bingo it's off. Easy.

Default Sigma disassemble

To make it easy on you remove the magazine the stigma is disassembled the same way that the Glock pistols first you remove the magazine make sure there's no bullet in the chamber after that cycle halfway the slide at the same time pressing on the trigger the slide engaged press upwards push back the slide just a little bit and pull up the gun slide comes apart upwards then you're able to remove the slide completely then you may start disassembling the barrel the spring it's on the barrel press forward and remove the barrel then you may start cleaning the gun piece by piece if you want to disassemble the gun completely and you don't have the experience please take it to a qualified gunsmith thank you very much sincerely yours Jose A Velez please refer to the manual if you have any questions contact Smith & Wesson they will help you on the telephone Smith & Wesson is your great company when buying guns from Smith & Wesson for a very long time this particular gun operates the same way that the Glock 17 or any to Glock basically it works the same way that Block works
