I got one of the original (pre-Glock suit) 40F's, when they first came out. It needed some smoothing of parts but is a very accurate and reliable pistol. The trigger is as smooth and crisp as any striker pistol I've handled, a lot crisper than the SD9VE trigger--hardly any of the rubbery/elasticy quality of striker guns at all.
S&W modified the sear assembly as part of the Glock settlement, but I'm not sure if the modifications came in another model designation, or if there were 40F's issued with different sear arrangements. The 'settlement sear' and following versions are probably where the "Sigmas have terrible triggers" concept came up.
