Default SD40VE Striker spring guide

Used my buddies frog lube on my 40ve and it turned into glue basically. The striker was tapping rounds but not igniting them and I ended up with a mag full of dimpled unexpected rounds. Took it apart and as I was removing the striker spring guide it broke. I cerakoted the pistol so I know smith and Wesson won't fix it, any where I can get that plastic tube??? I'll attach pics of what it looks like and where it goes but the only one I'm finding is for M&P models only like 40s&w M&P would that work on my SD40VE. I'm assuming it's unsafe to shoot without it.

I would call S&W and ask the worst they could tell you they won't touch it. I would be also willing to bet they are the same on all the new models. Midway has the M&P part for $3.00 for that price I would order one and try it.

I want to but I don't want the gun exploding in my hands. I guess it is worth the try to see if it fits.

Good opportunity here for someone who owns both a M&P and a SD to take the strikers out and compare.

I would call S&W -- and try to talk them into sending you a replacement guide, spring, and striker. I know S&W is not sharing part numbers much these days, and may be reluctant to send out parts, per se, but parts that are "consumable" or that can be expected to wear out -- anything with a spring, for example -- are fair game for the owner to replace. I have had great luck with S&W by simply sending in a broken part in a small envelope and saying "could you replace this." They send me the part at no cost.

I've always been told, and passed it on to others, that strikers (and their guides) should not be lubed, except very lightly. Excess lube allows powder residue and brass scrapings - found in that part of the pistol - to stick. The lube itself, as noted, can become thicken and gooey.

As for cerakoting (or any major modification) making the warranty invalid, yes and no. S&W presumably would still fix something not related to the major modification. Internal workings of the striker are not related to the surface coating... at worst, they might fix or replace the broken part and charge you for it. A striker/guide/spring is probably less than $15 in any case.

Good luck with getting your pistol back on line. It should all work out.
