Thumbs up Check Out The New SDVE's

They now come with HI-VIZ sights from the factory. But, they still don't list the all black frame SD9 & SD40.

Looks like the SD series is starting to be taken seriously by the factory. Nice.

OK you've conviced me. I'll take a flat dark earth instead of the grey.

Exclamation

I don't know who at S&W I will have to talk to, but I'm going to call them and suggest that they advertise the all black SD9 & SD40.
I wonder if they (S&W) are held to some kind of contract with Academy and the SD9 & SD40, as to why S&W can't display it on their site.......???????

Ya know folks, all kidding aside, the more people discover this gun the more the word will get out there and sales will skyrocket.

Smith puts all the hype and marketing (along with pricing) into the M&P line in order to grab market share from the likes of Glock and other competitors.

That said, more and more people are going to discover what I did a long time ago, "don't let the price fool you"! The SDs are awesome guns, and the newest run from Academy has the best trigger to date and the sights are indeed fantastic!

I totally agree. The SDVE series is no slouch! This gun is for real. The more people tell G19 owners (The SD9VE & SD9's equivalent) the more interest it will get from people. If you have a good product and are seeing people using it and talking positive about it, you bet your (donkey) it will sell!
There is a thread/post at a Glock website forum about the G19. I repled to it, but, with my SD9 in the picture I posted. I explained to the members that I do like the G19, which I actually do, and was not trying to sabotage their thread. They accepted it and even talked about the front slide serations, which are supposed to be used on future G19's starting this summer.
So, you see, even Glock owners accept the SD.

I agree, the pistol is solid - so far - and that is good. I have stood at the firing range with others using XDs, glock, CZs, Walters and the list goes on and my SD9 has gone bang everytime. After 3100 rounds the pistol is showing only slight wear on the internals which further underscores the quality. The only thing I do not like about my SD is the shiny black polymer - It has gotten too shiny in my opinion... but this of course does not impact reliability or durability.

Question

I called S&W this evening about S&W not listing the all black SD9 & SD40 on their website. The person I asked stated that they WILL be making it on the website when S&W updates it. She stated that S&W is working on trying to expand the SD/SDVE series to other markets besides Academy.
This makes me think that they have some sort of contract or partnership with Academy. I'm thinking that when it's over S&W might be able to expand to other markets. Anyone else agree, or want to give their thoughts or opinion on it?

Not unusual for companies to produce special editions for large vendors under contract. So not surprised that Academy has their all black edition.

Right now the only compact or full size Semi Auto S&W has approved for sale out here is the SD series. If you want an M&P, you have to buy a shield in 9 or 40. Anything else in the M&P series is off roster, and not available new. There are off roster M&P's that are for sale, but they require you to go ppt and you'll pay a premium.

Didn't know the SD series came with two sight options, as none of the LGS's have the hi-viz model. Like the idea of the fiber optic front, but they can keep the FO rear. Think it's too busy of a sight picture.

I agree! People are funny characters, it takes a long time (if ever) to change stereotypes. The SD is a descendant of the sigma and we all know the dark cloud that gun was born under. But as time passes, things are getting better, the word is slowly getting out.

For the record, the sigma is why I bought into the SD line in the first place. My sigma was terrific, never a failure! For years I just shook my head listening to all the whiners crying about the trigger.

I have an old saying and that is this; "it's the Indian, not the arrow"!
