Default sd9 FDE

just purchased a SD 9 FDE with 2-16 round mags. luv it !! have a sigma 40VE also. my sd 9 says it holds 16 +1 . both mags will only fit 16 if you really push last round in . but mag will not insert all the way into the gun with 16 rounds in it and slide closed !!! ??? any ideas ??? 15 rounds work fine. i havent tried to insert it with the slide open

Yup. The general rule is load 15 or 16 and let em sit for a week. Mine is currently topped off 16+1.

With new mags I had to give them a firm smack to get them to seat on a closed slide. No problem, you don't reload that way anyway.

Never smack or slam your mag in with the slide locked back/open.
I load 15, I like the way the gun performs better.

Did your SD9 FDE come with standard 3 dot sights, or fiber optics? At Academy, the only FDE model they had was $50 higher, but had the fiber optic sights.
They are nice looking guns. The springs in the mags will loosen up after awhile. You're lucky, or have a stronger thumb. I only got 13 rds in a new mag last time I got one.

The SD9 has the black slide. SD9VE has the SS gray/silver slide.

If you can, you may want more mags so you can rotate !! It took a while to get 16 into my mags, using the Mag-Lula loader helped. I let 'em sit for a month and then I could put 'em in by hand. Trouble was, I then started having slide-lock issues, which are still not completely resolved. Yes, you have to insert fully loaded 16 rnd. mags into the gun smartly, but not THAT hard, at least in my case. It'll take more than a mag issue to make me lose interest in the gun. I sure do like mine. If they ever make one w/ a black slide and desert tan frame, count me in. Fiber optics would be welcome for my old eyes. Actually, they could give the gun the same grip treatment as the M&P 2.0 OR the Shield 45 !! Great gun !!!

You know, there's always the option of just loading 15, and not worrying about it. You're still more than sufficiently equipped to repel the looming invasion of Space-Ninja-Zombie-Biker-Mutants.
And there's the added bonus that virtually everything that ever existed benefits from not being pushed to it's absolute maximum operating limit.

At the range I load all my three mags with 16 & insert the mag with the slide back. But at home only 15.
You know Pictures are always welcome here

The Apex kit is easy for a gunsmith, and not that hard for the amateur. The Apex trigger sometimes needs a little fitting, based on variations in the frame.

You can use a 1/8" punch to hold the pieces in place while reinserting the cross pin. It just takes patience and a little time to make it work.

I recommend taking a picture of the works before taking things apart, so you have a record of the order and direction in which parts go.

Or take it to the gunsmith! Either way is good.

And I agree with the others that 15 rounds that work is better than 16 rounds that push the limits. It is happier with 15.
