Default SW40VE history

Hi all, new to the forum. I'm looking at a SW40VE serial number is RAV 2670. Want to find out all I can about it. Age, date of mfg., etc. Thanks for the help.

You can call Smith & Wesson directly, or what I’ve often done is get onto their website during business hours and use the live chat option. Usually only takes a couple of minutes to get most of the info you’re looking for.

My experience doing that gets you the date of manufacture and thats it. They won't tell you who it was sold too (distributor, police dept, etc). You can also ask if the weapon was ever returned to S&W for service. Unless its a cop gun with a roll mark, its a great big grey fog bank till it got to your hands.

The info being restricted to date of manufacture may indeed be true, but it’s all I’ve ever asked about for any used guns I’ve ever bought. I never was interested in knowing more, since in every instance, the guns were locally bought and traded in to my LGS.
