Default SD40 slide on SW40VE?

Does anybody know if a SD40 slide will fit on the SW40VE frame?
I like the looks of the SD slide and was considering purchasing one if it will fit.
Thanks

I've seen pictures of it done before, but I've never heard of anyone actually trying to shoot such a combination.

The inner workings of both slides and frames appear similar enough side-by-side to assume that they would work together, but you never know.

I would suggest seeking an answer from Smith & Wesson themselves by contacting them directly.

Thanks for the response. I haven't asked S&W because I figured they wouldn't recommend it for liability reasons.
Guess I'll send them an email.
Thanks again.

Got a reply from S&W today.

"Unfortunately we are unable to provide you with a definitive answer, the reason being is that we don't test fire the firearm in this configuration and we do not recommend swapping slides with other models. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Thank you and Have a Great Day!

Smith&Wesson values its customers and we are happy to have served you today. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you require further assistance.

Regards, Aurelina"

Yeah, I suppose they wouldn't test fire such an odd configuration, especially now that the SW40 series is long out of production.

That's kind of a shame too, as I was interested in what the answer would be, as I honestly prefer the look of the SW40VE's slide over the newer SD40VE, and in the event in which the frame were damaged I would have liked to request that they simply fit the slide/barrel to an SD40 frame.
