Default SDVE trigger/reset?

I’ve tried the trigger on a few SD9VE’s a while back, but I don’t remember anything about the reset. Probably because I was a new shooter and didn’t really know about reset or didn’t think to check it.

Is it similar to the original M&P’s with a vague reset - it’s there but you don’t really feel it or hear it?

The SD guns are value priced defense pistols. If you are of the current "reset" fad, you definitely need an M&P 2.0 to play that game.
Personally, as an instructor, I consider the "reset" fad the bane of learning the basics of good pistol shooting with ordinary defensive pistols.

"Short reset" has it's place but only with experienced shooters.

I stopped volunteering as an NRA instructor at our club when they got on that "band wagon" with teaching "short reset" to new shooters. I saw more unintended shots fired than I care to admit. Not the way to teach basic hand gun.

As an R/O and Match director I also witnessed far too many negligent discharges during matches as well. for the same reasons.

Good info. But, do they have the same type of reset as the original M&P’s?

No, the mechanisms are significantly different, and attempts to turn the SD into an "M&P like" feel are doomed to failure.
I have two early M&P Pros that I shoot in competition, and I consider their 4.25# triggers preferable to the 2.0 triggers. I shoot 0.25 sec splits using a rapid fire technique that has nothing to do with "short reset" and eliminates short stroking. If you want to see it in action, look at a Mike Seeklander video.

The reset on my SD9VE is a little on the long side, and not very noticeable unless you are really checking for it. It does not present any problems in follow up shots for me though.

Mine seems to be ok but I also have an Apex trigger upgrade. Reset seems to be fine. Not overly long but not super short either.

I've only got a couple thousand rounds through my stock trigger. The reset is slightly longer than the M&P, however in my opinion, this does not make it inferior. It is only a different trigger. I actually chose the SD over the M&P. When I was shopping I had both laid out on the counter. I could tell the difference in weight, length and reset, but it was very slight to me. Now had I been comparing SD/M&P to a 1911, 686 or even a GP100; the striker system would have lost.

Hey folks, help me out here. I'm not a reset nerd interested in shooting as fast a I can. My SD9VE issue is 40% of the time my pistol cycles find and then I have a dead trigger. I never shot this weapon until after the apex trigger upgrade. Initially the trigger was dead and I filed it little by little where apex video shows us. Snuck up on it the 3rd filing seemed to do the trick. Put 9 magazines through it with many dead triggers. 2 mags worked perfectly. 20 rounds no issues! Does anyone have any ideas? Should I file a little more on the trigger? Sear issuse? Help! Pretty close to sending it in to the factory.

See my responses in your other post.

Be aware if you send your pistol to SW with the Apex mods, they may replace them with OEM and not return your parts or not even attempt to work on it because of the trigger mods (more likely).

You could reinstall the factory trigger/springs and see if you have the same problems (I doubt you would).

Like I said, I doubt SW will work on it with the Apex mods.
