Hey everyone, I know several have asked questions about wear on their barrels but I couldn’t find any threads about wear on the ejection side of the barrel.

Are these wear marks normal? I’ve got the usual wear marks on the top of the barrel which aren’t a problem but I want to make sure these side marks aren’t the sign of a problem.

Let me know what you think. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are some similar markings on the ejection port side of the barrel on my SW40VE, albeit smaller and nowhere near as pronounced as the markings on yours, but that could be due to how often you've shot yours compared to mine.

Mine was purchased like new last October, and I've barely shot it since then thanks to the pandemic and the subsequent ammo shortage.

This gun only has a few hundred rounds through it but I use my laser bullet at home to dry fire practice fairly often.

I don't really think that it's a cause for concern since it's just finish wear, nor does it appear to be premature finish wear considering the amount of ammo you've put through it as well as the amount of dry-firing. One of the things that I like about the Sigma Series is that in spite of being a value-priced line of pistols, they're still fit tightly, so finish wear is to be expected.

If it bothers you, then I suggest you do what a lot of folks who are bothered by barrel wear on their Sigmas do and polish it up a bit to a brushed or satin finish to taste. Just get a 3M Scotchbright Ultra-Fine (Gray) automotive pad and polish off the wear down to a shinier finish which doesn't show wear as readily as the stock bead-blasted matte stainless finish does. You could also apply a bit more lube to the barrel hood to prevent further wear, although I presume that the wear is self-limiting and once the gun has broken in and the mating surfaces have become smooth that no further wear will occur.

As previously stated, the barrel on my SW40VE shows similar wear, but I've never paid any mind to it because it's only cosmetic and hasn't affected the performance of my pistol.
Based on appearance, I surmise that the wear marks are caused by the barrel hood rubbing against the slide/extractor when the action is cycled. It's not unusual nor is it harmful to either of the parts.

I don't see a problem with it. You can lubricate the area lightly if you feel friction.

It looks normal to me.

I see wear like that to some extent on some of my semi auto pistols. I'd say it's normal.
