Have you ever bought a firearm because you owned an old magazine with it on it?
OK, I have told everyone I am a little strange and this will prove it.
I just picked up a very early production SW40F Sigma 40.
The original owner told me it has never been fired and I believe him.
I've had this magazine from when it was sent to me back in June of 1994 and never had a desire to buy a Sigma back then but this Sigma came across my what the heck it's only $200 dollars mindset.
If you love them tell me more and if you hate them I already know because that's how I felt about the Sigma when it was new.

Yes, a Ruger Speed Six because it was on the cover of Gun Digest.

I bought a Beretta 92 because of Lethal Weapon. Does that count?

Not a magazine but can say that movies prompted the purchase of my snub nose M10, Chiefs special and Detective specials. I’m a big fan of 50’s and 60’s detective and police movies and TV shows.

No, but I have bought a pistol because I was GIVEN 4 magazines, a short bull barrel and a set of nice original walnut grips. Bought a nice HS Slant grip Supermatic Tournament.

I’m guilty.
When I got my January/February 2001 American Handgunner there was a featured pistol. It was a S&W CQB and I just had to get one. I’d never drooled over a centerfold so much. Well not since I was 15.
Fast forward. I “met” John Watterson II, (18DAI,) right here on the Forum and it turned out he had that exact featured pistol. Wow on so many levels.
I finally did find the CQB that I wanted for the price I wanted to pay. Although it took a few years the search/wait was worth it.

Yep! I spotted the Model 24-3 snub on the cover of Guns and Ammo back in 1984. I couldn't rest until I found one. Still have the gun, the magazine is long gone.

I worked for a guy that bought a case of 7.65Argentine surplus ammo at a gun show. Then spent the next few months looking for an Argentine Mauser to go with the ammo.
I had a SW40F a long time ago. I remember enjoying it. I never had any problems with it. At the time, I thought the 4.5" F model was more accurate then the 4" VE models that came along later.
Take it out, shoot it, let us know how it did.

Someone gave me two S&W 4013 single stack magazines and then the hunt was on for one. It took a few months but I ended up with one. I will dig it out of the safe and post some photos. It has a great story and I am sure everyone will like it.

I have a SW40VE. The trigger was **** until I discovered APEX. Now I have $250 in a gun that outshoots my Glocks. I don't carry an auto much but they make nice house & truck guns. The Glock 23 3 gen does have an advantage. A small investment in barrel and mags lets you shoot 9mm & 357 Sig as well as 40. That does not work with the the Smith 40VE.

Decades ago I saw some Co*t .22 magazines for sale at my favorite LGS. At that time I did not own a Woodsman but at $10 a piece I bought them anyway. Fast forward 20-30 years and now I own 7(?) or 8(?) of them (Woodsman pistols, that is) and those mint condition "tombstone" magazines are worth a small fortune, lol.
I also bought some Nambu magazines long before I owned one, so yes, I'm a member of THAT club.

You can use a SW9VE barrel in the SW40VE and it will work. Apparently the .40 mags also work fine with 9mm too. I tried some in mine, and it seemed ok, but I'm not 100% sold on the idea.
I'm trying to find out if the SW9VE mags will work in the SW40VE. If they do, I'm definitely going to buy a SW9VE barrel and some mags.
I'm undecided on whether I'm going to buy a barrel if my only choice is using .40 mags.
Here's a link to a video of a guy using the 9mm barrel in his .40 using his .40 magazine:
