ok. i can shoot. but the idea of opening up my sigma to see all of the internals that everyone else seems to be a pro at, scares me to death. how does the frame come apart, or is it not supposed to caome apart. i have not tried, i am just curious. How are the trigger jobs accomplished?

Field strip for clening, or disssembly? Field strip is in the manual, any further, take it to a gunsmith.

Complete disassembly is not a process that I can walk you through over the internet. Why don't you spend $25 on The Gun Digest Book of Automatic Pistols: Assembly/Disassembly?

http://www.amazon.com/Automati...id=1236289041&sr=1-6

It has all you need to know, with photos.

I can field strip the thing in my sleep, but see the references to the sigma trigger jobs, and I guess my real question is, how do you get the trigger group out, and the other internals that need polishing/tweaking. i probably will never do it, as I like it the way it is, but curious nonetheless.

Erich, I will have to check out the book. reading things other than the forum can be healthy too.

The book does tell you how to detail-strip a Sigma. I bought it for that reason (the Sigma is actually slightly different from a Glunk).

The trigger group itself is easy.
Just drive out the pin in the rear, and it
will lift out. It may feel a bit stuck, but
no problem.. It'll pop up and out.
The trigger bar will lift up and out of the way
as you pull the trigger group out.
The main thing to note is how the trigger bar
fits onto the pin that comes from the sear
block.
Not hard, but you have to kind of lift and
maneuver it a bit to get it in the right place
when you put it back together.
It's easier than it probably sounds.
Then drive the pin back in when you put it back
together. BTW, I usually grab a thin hex key to
drive the pins out. One slightly thinner than
the pin so it doesn't bind in the hole.
I've never taken the trigger group itself apart.
I don't think it's too hard, but the only
reason I've taken the trigger group out is to
clean and relube it.
I used light oil to lube it last time, but
some recommend the dry silicone. I'll probably
try it next time I have to do that.
The trigger group does have to be lubed up.
I tried it totally dry after cleaning it all
with spray cleaner, and it was horribly gritty.
After oiling all the rubbing surfaces, it felt
great, and so far so good since then.
But oil collects grit faster than the silicone.
