I was wondering what most of you use to clean your Sigma? I Have a SW9VE and I spray mine out with Break Free CLP and although I have not had any problems as of yet I was wondering if a total spray out was a little much?

Glad you like your Sigma. The trigger is heavy, but ergonomics are great and you can't beat the price. I've been thinking about getting one again (used to have two, but traded them). I really don't need another 9mm (or .40), but the price plus the rebate is hard to pass up.

Anyway, at the time I had my Sigmas, I used Hoppe's Elite on them (both the cleaner and the oil). The stuff is expensive, but it (the cleaner) really works and virtually no odor and supposedly non-toxic. It even seems to remove some of the copper from inside the barrel. And it doesn't seem to hurt the plastic, either. I used the oil on them, too, and it did fine. Probably not as great a lubricant as some other stuff, but again low odor and non-toxic.

Since then I "discovered" Break-Free which I use on pretty much all my guns now. I'd imagine it would work fine on a Sigma, though I don't know what it might do to the plastic. I do know you should not spray the plastic with certain harsh solvent gun cleaners like Gun Scrubber or disk brake cleaner as they may "melt" or soften the plastic. I think Gun Scrubber does make a "plastic-safe" version, but I've never tried it.

It's good to keep the Sigma clean. They don't work well when you don't maintain them and they get full of smigma.

I'd suspect a Sigma is very similar to a Glock when it comes to cleaning.

I'd be hesitant to use too much break-free(CLP) as it can over lube and cause even more dirt buildup.

I'd break it down and use an old cut up t-shirt, some q-tips and a nylon bristle brush. An old toothbrush works great. If you know how to completely disassemble it, that should be all you need with some break-free to lube it up where indicated.

You can also, safely use the new gun-scrubber to do a fairly effective hack-job on the internals.

You can download a Glock armorers manual via glockmeister. That should get you most of the way on a Sigma.

It takes five small drops of oil to lube a Sigma.
Giving it a bath in lube attracts dirt and makes crud.
When I clean the trigger group, I use CRC "Dry" silicone. The striker should have no lube at all.

I'll have to get some of that dry silicone.
I had to clean my trigger group the other day,
and I first tried it totally clean. Was horrible.
So it does need to be lubed, but that silicone
should attract less dirt than the light oil I
had to use. The oil worked great though as far
as the trigger feel..
Instantly cured the gritty feel it had when it
was totally clean.
