Color of the slide. The Allied Forces model have a black slide versus the standard stainless.

All the Best,

Yeah, exact same gun. Black slide looks better. You don't have to agree.

Hey conn ark, I also agree that the black slide looks better. But S/W wants $275.00 for the dang slide. Is there any place that just sells the black slide without the rod and spring assembly? Were just talking color change, no internal parts. Thanks

You could look for an E series slide. The SW9E and SW40E Enhanced Sigma series pistols featured a melonite slide and black barrel.

The VE model has satin finished stainless while the AF model has a stainless slide treated to the melonite hardening process.

It is not correct to say it is just a "color change." The melonite hardening process is an expensive process equal to or better than Glock's tenifer hardening process. Stainless which has been melonite treated is very tough indeed.

Melonite is a high heat process (900+ degrees) with Nitrogen and Carbon added to produce a wear resistant finish. That's not to say I didn't scratch the heck out of my 40VE when it fell off my range bag and onto the concrete this late summer.

I believe Bud's told me the allied forces models also lack the magazine safety.

None of the SIGMAs have a magazine safety.
