Yes, that is a VR. It was made in both 4.5" & 6" versions. One year of production only, so they are uncommon. I am unsure if they were offered with fixed sights, everyone I ever laid eyes on had adjustable sights. I have seen about 1/2 dozen of them.
In metro Atlanta, the 422/622/2206/2213/2214 series of guns are usually very high priced and do not come up for sale often. Over the years I have owned nine, am now down to five.

Welcome to the forum! I'm afraid I can't answer your question in detail, but I can offer that the 622VR was only made in one year, 1997. I hope others can provide additional detail.
Best wishes,
David

Ha ha, I just realized that the Smith Case has the word Vented Rib under features on the label.

Details
Bol you can't just drop info like this without details. How did you buy a pistol that you evidently had no knowledge of and what kind of deal did you make on it? You already have a number of us green with envy we need details! lol
Congratulations on what might be the find of your life. You have a good eye. That pistol is a finalist on my top coolest looking guns list.

It looks like the answer to; "What do you get when you cross a python with a 1911?"

I have a 2213, which I guess is related...
I got it about 10 years ago, have not seen one for sale since. It's the MOST reliable .22 auto I have owned since the early 1970's. It's the only .22 pocket pistol I'd carry if I were going to do that. I have had a lot of other brands of small .22's and not one was near as good as this old Smith.
Accurate, good size and feel and it works. Hard to beat that.
But DO NOT dry fire it!!!
