945 PC - mounting a Docter Sight?
Hi!
Has anyone got any experience in mounting a Docter Sight or a similar dot to a 945 PC WITHOUT drilling holes?
Here's what I found, however they don't seem to make it for the 945 PC:
Semi Auto Pistols
I'm also not sure it this kind of construction is sturdy enough to withstand a lot of shooting without warping.
Any ideas / suggestions?
Cheers,
Helwig

I purchased a BME (Black Mountain Engineering) mount which replaced the rear sight of the 945PC. I mounted the Docter red dot on the BMEW mount. Be careful in removing the rear sight and keep all the parts. BME has a wide variety of specialty mounts. My 945PC is almost 10 years old and S&W may have changed the specs on the rear sight. You may have to send in your slide to BME and have them make a mount.

BME mounts
Thanx!
Found BME's website, checked out their slide mounted weaver rai for the 945 PC. However, even BME admits that this mount is for target loads, only. I should have mentioned that I hardly ever use target loads in my guns... I'm pretty sure the mount could take the beating - it does look sturdy. I'm not too sure about the Docter sight, though.
Anyways, I guess what I need is something that can be attached or clamped to the frame of the gun. The obvious advantage would be that I'd still be able to use the iron sights, too.
Hmmm... We'll see...

You may want to look at the Trijicon Red Dot. It is similar to the Docter Red Dot, but will withstand five times the "g" rating. I am thinking about putting this on my 41, 952-2, 647, and 945. Between Trijicon and BME, I should be able to get mounts for all that fit in the original sight dovetail and not have to drill any holes. If you look around on this forum, you can find pictures of a 41 and a 952 with this type of Red Dot mounted. Good Luck.
