Questions on 1076,,,,,,,
There is a bunch of "codes" on the label, I can figure out what most of it means, but would anyone know what "GVG", "DVA" AND "PST" mean?
Also this one doesn't have the "dots" for the recall on it,,,,,,,,,what exactly was the "recall" for,,,,,,,,,,,,,and is it needed?
Thanks gang!

Once again, do I feel stupid, it is not even a factory label, must be some gun shop's own labeling system.

If your pistol is a law enforcement pistol you might want to letter it. The prefix TFE has been found on several FBI 1076s.

Thanks dmc8163, I purchase mine based on a old thread (see below) from a "famous" forum member who has one FBI 1076 for every day of the month,,,,,including the months that have 31 days! (do ya know him? nudge, nudge, wink, wink)
It was for sale on Guns International, the pic's were good enough to see the "warning" on the slide and the TFE prefix,,, so I bought it on a hunch. I sent for the letter before I even had it, as I heard it take months to get it back. At worst I'll have a LE 1076 for $565 total including transfer fees & shipping. ($615 total investment with the letter)
How many of yours were not crosshatched on the front of the frame grip?, this one is not and also didn't have the palm swells.
(Obviously, I am have fun enjoying that it might be a FBI 1076, I need to enjoy the fun before I get the "letter" and my bubble gets bursted!)
Thanks in advance for sharing your knowledge, BT
"Other serial numbers have been found among the 250 test pistols. And at the time the FBI 1076s were manufactured the pistol frames were pulled from line inventory with no thought of serial numbers and in fact FBI 1076s bear a wide variety of pre-fixes including among others TEU, TEV, TFE, TFF, TFH, TFK, TFL, TFN, TFP, TFX, THB, and THC. I believe that all of the test pistols had the horizontal lines. The crosshatch design on the grip was set forth in the contract and appeared on the pistols at a later date. I believe that all 1076s actually issued to Agents had the crosshatch grip.
If I may, I would like to briefly address the media coverage of the FBI 1076 at the time it was being selected and issued. As is always the case, not everything you read in the magazines of the day was accurate. Just because something appears in writing does not make it true."
