Anyone have a shorty 45
Hello,
New to S&W semi's. I have found a shorty 45 at local gun shop. Is this a performance center gun, does it have a model number or just called shorty 45. The one I found is in excellent shape, but has no box or paper work with it and they are asking 400.00. Anyone have any comments on this model,
Thanks,
Jazzman

For a performance center gun in excellent shape that is a steal.

The Shorty Forty's are not for everyone, but for 400 bucks it would certainly be for me.
I would give it a thought at twice the price.

$400 is an amazing price if it's in good shape as you described.
You would normally pay almost twice that.
If it's still available, grab it!

I paid more then that for my shorty 45. Buy it if you don't like it you can always sell it for more then you paid for it. A win win in my book.

Love mine. The first time I shot mine, I loaded eight rounds of 255 grain handloads and shot all of them into a group that a quarter can hide completly at 20. It will feed an empty case and everything else I've fed it.
They are very hard to come by. And that is a hell of a price.

Holy smokes! $400 for a Shorty .45?!? You had better buy it before the private detective I just hired to find you tells me where the store it. LOL! That is about $200 - $300 less than what you would expect to pay. I carry my Shorty .45 a LOT and it is one of my all time favorite pistols. Conceals and shoots like a dream. I'll give you a dollar if you will tell where to find that one!

Man wish I had not sold my CS45 and would kill to run across the Shorty Forty because I reload 10 mm and those little guns were some of the best S&W ever built.

The shorty 45 is amazing. That price is incredibly low! It will not last long. I paid twice that and was happy with the purchase! The Shorty 45 will outshoot $2000 1911's. It's that good!

The Shorty 45 is one of the most accurate and dependable small .45's non the market. Mine has bullseye accuracy and feeds anything. It is a Performance Center gun and retailed for about $1000.00 new. One of my very favorite firearms. Grab it, and never part with it.....you'll love this one, and that is the lowest price I have ever heard of on one. Mine is the Mark II with adjustable sights.

Thanks to all for the advice. I am now the proud owner of the gun. It does not have the adjustable sights so it is not the Mark II. I hope to get it out to the range soon if it ever stops raining here in Ohio. The gun shop I bought it at usually deals in the newest "tactical" stuff and may not have not known what they had, as I can't think of any other reason it was priced so low. I will try to get pictures of it by the weekend if I can borrow a camera.

Well congrat's on the new toy, hope it serves you well for many years.
Now that is probably the last gun you will ever get that kind of deal on unless you dance with the angels on a regular basis.

I just bought a CS45at a local gun shop here for $425 with night sights. They have another one just like it w/o NS for $400. I think I will buy that one as well unless someone already beat me to it.

And only 150 miles north of me. Are they NIB???
Oh well I am broke most of the time now thanks to my two grandsons I am raising. I would not trade them for all the guns in the world however.
Walther is real proud of their SP22, just price one and see.

Check out the thread "Sept 1996 Combat Handguns". Someone has posted a 1996 article reviewing the then new 'Shorty'.

Congrats on your Shorty 45!
I finally got one......well I put it on layaway. I will take delivery in November. It has a stainless ambi decocker/safety and Novak night sights. LNIB with box, docs and two mags.
Does anyone have a Shorty AND a 4516? I'm wondering if the Shorty will fit in my 4516 holsters.
My duty holster is a Safariland paddle for a Glock 23. It fits my 4516-3 like a glove. I'm hoping it will work for the Shorty 45.
Was there a Shorty 45 Mark 3? Hard to make out in the pics the seller sent me, but it sure looks like the numeral 3 below the Shorty 45 laser etching on the right side of the slide.
Enjoy your Shorty 45, I'm looking forward to mine! Regards 18DAI.

18,
I don't have a 4516 anymore, but my Shorty .45 fits in every Glock 19/23 holster I have, except the tightly formed BladeTech IWB.
Congrats on your new Shorty. I totally love mine. I had never tried the feed an empty case thing before, but I tried and it worked! Of course it feeds everything else, too.

18DAI, I have both and the Shorty 45 fits 90% of my 4516 leather however I do have a real nice Mitch Rosen 4516 IWB that the S45 will not fit (Too loose). I have Milt Sparks leather 55BN model that fits both. Oh I also found that the Shorty 45 seems to fit my Sig 228/229 leather pretty well.

Very nice Jazzman! Thats the best deal on any Performance Center pistol I've heard of.
Thanks Catshooter and orangehole! I was hoping it would fit the Safariland paddle duty holster I use.
I'll get the Shorty at the end of the month, and qualify with it in early November. Regards 18DAI.

Saw a 4566 NIB yesterday for $750, I almost bought it. Guy doesn't take CC and I didn't have check book with me. Bet it is not there when I go back.

+3 on the 4516 fitting in holsters for the Glock 23. And the Glock 19/23 holsters are a lot easier to find than something marked for the 4516.
ENJOY!
