On my stainless steel PPK/S, I use a teflon and silicon light grease on the slide rails, to prevent galling. I use a light oil on the rest of the gun.
On my blued steel PPK/S, I just use light gun oil.
It's been my experience that the Walther PPK/S's, like the metal framed S&W's like to run a bit 'wet'. Sig-Sauers are the same, while Glocks seem to 'like' very little lubrication.
I've never figured out how Glocks do this, but I have heard of malfunctions, FTF, due to oil in the striker channel.
Short recoil, blowback pistols depend on high slide velocity to operate, so some amount of lubrication is necessary.
