Default trigger polishing

Like I said in another thread I got a sigma 9mm in trade. I liked it so much I sold off another gun I had and picked up the Sigma new in .40

Now the guy I got the 9 from said that he polished the trigger or trigger assembly or something?? the weight off the triggers dont seem much different tehn one another and truth be told I like the heavy trigger and feel its safer than say my xd's. But

the 9mm feels smooth through the stroke. I dont know a better way to explain it. and the .40 a little rough. does anyone know what he speaks when he talks about polishing and what are the thoughts on it.
Alex

Default trigger polishing

I sent my 9mm to Frank Smith when I first got it because of the "gritty' trigger. He pays the freight both ways and gets it done in a week or less. Came back a little lighter and very smooth. Great S&W customer service.

Polishing "should" be a very lightly stoning of the engagement parts, to not remove any dimensions, but to smooth out any burrs etc., that exist. It should result in a smoother and actually feel a little lighter, but not actually reduce the pressure needed to pull the trigger.

Hey bmdsail, can you share who "Frank Smith" is? I take it he works at S&W from your fourth sentence, but I've also read here many times that the PC no longer works on 3rd gen semi's, so ... ?

Default trigger polishing

Frank Smith owns LSG Company in Texas and is a S&W authorized customer service guy. His address is in your owners manual and is a super guy to deal with. All you do is call him at the number listed and tell him what is 'wrong' with the gun, i.e. 'gritty trigger' and he gives you his Fex-Ex number and explains how to ship it. The work is covered under the warantee so there is no charge for the work done or the shipping. It takes about a week or so from shipping it to getting it back. Greatest customer service I have ever seen and my gun came back with a much smoother trigger. I would much rather have that done by an expert than an amateur - me!
