Default Model SW1911 Pistol

Just bought a SS version. What a dream! Shot about 50 rounds out of it sighting in. 3" groups at 25 yards off the bags. First slide center fire ever. Letting the Hoppes soak in and cleaning it for the first time right now. Any suggestions on lubes to use, care of the beast, etc? Shot WW target 230 FMJ and some Magtech 200 gr. SWC through it. No problems. Kind of a wheel gun man myself. Got a few. Anything from 38 special to 44 mag.

Congrats brother. I'm a devout revolver guy too but somehow bought two of those sweet SS 1911's. Nicest out of the box 1911's I've ever tried/owned. Mine are VERY reliable and feed anything.
I use Break Free CLP as a general lube and preservitive and a little Shooters Choice grease on the slide. Others will share their favorites.
Enjoy your new love!

Default 1911

I have a S&W 1911 in SS also. I love it. I have owned several different 1911's in the past ( Colt, AMT, Springfield) and I truly believe my S&W tops them all. It has many custom features not found on other guns. As far as cleaning goes, I always keep all my guns spotless at all times. Hoppes for the bore and Rem oil for everything else. I also use the break free CLP sometimes. Enjoy your new pistol.

S&W 1911s are fantastic. Its was the first handgun I bought. Never failed and was perfectly accurate. Never should of gotten rid of her. Oh if we could do it all again.

Love my SS SW1911 also, shoots as well as my more expensive Colt Combat Elite. I just use Breakfree CLP to clean and lube. Just make sure the rails are kept lubed and keep a drop of lube on the locking lugs, barrel hood, and muzzle end of the barrel.

Last year I bought my first, but not my last, S&W 1911 in .45acp. Right out of the box, it shot better than any of my other handguns or any of the 1911 models I already owned.

You will enjoy that gun and love it forever. They are so much improved over the original S&W 1911 and people are learning that very fast.

As I tell everyone, if you have not shot a recent production S&W 1911, then you best not be sayong some other brand is best. Those having not shot one needs to try it. Six of my friends have shot mine and three of those now have their own.
