Default Any of you 45 super your 4506?

Was looking through an older gun mag and ran across an article about the 4506 being converted to 45 super. The ballistic gains seem worth the expense but I'm curious if the weapon handles that extra power ok without tearing it up long term. I've got a buddy that has a 99 mfg 4506 that I might be getting from him, since I have 2s std 4506's I was thinking of sending it to Ace custom 45's and have them work their super magic on it.

I do believe that the only thing you'll need to do to the gun is replace the recoil spring and maybe the magazine spring. The two rounds are dimensionally identical externally. I have one of the Springfield Armory "V" series 1911's in .45 ACP/.45 Super and the only thing necessary to convert back & forth is changing the recoil spring.

Thanks for the link, did you go through with the conversion? I've got 20lb springs in all of my autos anyway so all I have to do is replace the extractor and firing pin springs and I'm set? I've also got Wolff +10% mag springs as well. Just need to order some 45 super ammo, hmmm.
