Default sw9ve allied force slide / powdercoating the stainless slide?

Hey guys-
recently picked up an sw9ve and after trigger mod, love the thing. great weapon, accurate, lightweight, and fits great in my hand.

At the time of purchase i didn't know there was an 'allied forces' model available, and think I prefer the all black model. Does anyone know if it's possible to purchase the slide for the AA model and swap it over? Would it be easier just to take the slide to a gunsmith and have it powdercoated or something?

When i picked up the weapon i was torn between the 9 and the 40, and opted for the 9 based on ...well....now i have a reason to get another one, haha!! Curious if you swapped the barrel, slide, and magazines would it essentiall be the 40 model? just curious

Sure you can . . . you can actually have the same process done to your slide as S&W uses on the AF model. It is Melonite, a thermochemical process, ferritic nitrocarburizing. Several gunshops/smiths, heat treaters, and custom plating/coating shops can do this for you.

Take a look at:

A black Duracoat or similar coating would be a lot less expensive, I think.

That is to totally refinish and treat an entire pistol-- and these folks as Coal Creek do a lot of of very high-end pieces. It was given only as an example, a sample if you will. There are many, many places that will do the tratment on just the slide a lot less expensively. You need only shop around a bit.

If color (black) is all that interest you; there are many inexpensive alternatives. Heck, a can of Krylon can make it black . . .
