I may be in the market for an S&W 4013 New in Box. I would appreciate if someone could provide weight, dimensions, material such as alloy on frame. Whatever information is helpful.

Thanks

I don't know off the top of my head. S&W does have specs on their website. Anything you can't find there you should be able to find on yahoo or the like.

Default 4013

For 3rd gen pistols, the model number tells you:
first two digits = calibre, ie, .40S&W
third digit indicates type, 1=compact pistol
fourth digit indicates material type, 3=aluminum alloy frame with stainless steel slide. If it was a 4014, it would be an aluminum frame with carbon steel slide, and the entire piece would be finished in blueing, not the stainless look.
A compact .40 has a 3.5" barrel, 8 shot single stack mag, Novak lo-mount fixed rear sight with two white dots, fixed post front sight with white dot, ambi safety , bobbed hammer, and it will be a traditional double action ,ie, the safety lever decocks the hammer and puts the gun on safe, first trigger pull is long and heavy double action, you are cocking the hammer and then firing, subsequent trigger pulls are single action, shorter and lighter.
I have a 3913 and a 3914, basically the same except in 9mm, and like them a lot. 4013 should be desirable, though maybe a little snappy, given the light weight (27 oz.) of the pistol, don't know, never fired one.

I've had a Model 4013 for 18 years and it's not 'snappy' at all. What makes the 4013 better than most .40 cal pistols is the thickness of the barrel. I've seen Desert Eagles with thinner barrels. This thick barrel helps minimizes the recoil. It's a great little pistol.

The 4013 non-TSW is 6.73" in length and weighs 26.5 oz with a 3.5" barrel. I have a 4013TSW and the recoil is a little snappy but not too harsh and is certainly manageable.

Although this would be better in the semi-auto section you've got it pretty well covered here. As stated the original non-TSW 4013 is a single stack 8-rd mag gun, based on the compact 45 frame. The '98 and up TSW series are 9rd and based on the 6900 series guns. Just be careful when ordering parts because most are not the same between the two.
