So, I'm a big (and fairly knowledgable) S&W wheelgun enthusiast, but am hardly familiar with any of their autos (especially rimfires).

I ducted into a local pawn shop today to see if by chance they had any good deals, and they are just putting out a four inch model 422 in at least 90% (probably closer to 93%) with a price tag of $159.00. This seemed like a good deal, and I probably should have bought it, but wanted to consult those more knowledgable on this forum before doing so. I'm not familiar with the 422. Are their any "quirks" about it that I should be aware of (jams easily, etc.)? Or are they a solid plinker?

I DO NOT need another .22 pistol, but this seems like a good deal and I'm wondering if I should go back tomorrow and get the thing?

Great deal, jump on it. They seem to be going for over $200 consistently on GB. Have a 2206, and it is a extremely fun gun to shoot.

I've got the big brother a 622 stainless or aluminum I suppose in 6" and the baby brother a 2214 3" in blue and love them both. I would give $159 to have the middle brother. fun to shoot and a little different look from some other 22's. By the way, this is my first post. Been sitting on the side line for a while, decided I might as well join in the fun.

Just bought a 622 and from my research these models are picky about ammo. Mine is solid with CCI Blazer but jams consistantly with other HV ammo. Advice I got was try a variety and stick with the ammo that runs best.

I would have had out the credit card in a flash. I have a 422 & 622 and like them both. The only problem with them is that S&W no longer carries parts or services them. Numrich has a few parts but not firing pins. These should not be dry fired.

There was not a 4" barrel...it measures 4.5". I have six of this series, and have owned two other 4.5" barrel #422's. I have never had problems with any of my guns, they eat anything I feed them, except for a certain lot of Federal bulk pack ammo which averaged 4-7 misfires per fifty round box regardless of what I used it in, rifle or handgun. I had several bricks of it, and gave most of it away. I now have less than a full brick left, and it shoots like a laser out of my H&R #12 target rifle.

These are great guns.
