OK, I'll behave. On a serious note, I have found that the length of pull becomes a non-issue after I have been shooting a while at the range. I guess I just get used to it. Of course, I don't participate in one-round-per-minute or Bullseye-type shooting with my SW40F, but I use if for more of align-the-sights-and-squeeze-now shooting. I find the Sigma to be more than willing and groups with this shooting to be quite acceptable. My SW40F and I passed the CHL course, which let me know this gun is good enough for practical purposes.

Now, don't tell anyone I suggested this, but you might want to look around for a good used 3rd generation metal-frame S&W and see what you think of their trigger action. First round DA is not quite as long as the Sigma, and the following SA mode is really short and crisp.

CAUTION: you may find that you start collecting more guns....

My striker broke and was replaced by S&W. I also complained about the long and hard trigger. They did a great job on the trigger. It' still long and hard but not as long and hard as before. It appears they took a bit off the striker where the sear would break sooner. My wifes 9VE is definitly a little longer. I would not do this myself, take off too much and you got a hair trigger. Think "Plaxico"! I have found if I "pull" and not "sqeeezzze" the trigger I am much more accurate. This is designed to be a safe combat weapon, ergo the long hard trigger, and it does it very well. If the SHTF everybody will be "pullin', not "squeeezzzin". If you're after a 3.5# trigger you need to get a tack drivin' pistol. My neighbor has an M&P9c with a stock scary short, light trigger. He is a retired NYPD and is not fond of this for CCW. He's going to send it to S&W to make it longer and harder. I have fired that M&P many times and would not carry it. My nephew has a 9 and a 9c and both have very smooth fairly short and fairly light triggers. Enough that I would feel safe. My wife and I put almost 500 rounds in paper and they were all in center mass or head shots. Not a tack driver but a fine combat weapon.

Bennett,
I too had a trigger job done by S&W on my .40 and don't find the length of pull objectionable. It kinda' becomes a non issue when shooting on the range as Jim H stated.
