Default Looking up a 3rd-Gen Serial #

I have a quick question for you guys. Can I post my weapon's serial number online so I can learn when it was made? Does any one here have access to that information?

We can give you the approximate year from the S&W book. If you don't want to list your entire serial number, just list all but the last 2 or 3 numbers (VJD66XX for example).

The book doesn't go that high in the serial numbers, but the one I listed (VJD66XX) was shipped in 2001. Someone else might have a SN on the low side of yours to narrow it down more.

That is odd, FirebirdV8. I thought the 3913NL was only made for a short time sometime in the 90'ies.

The book stops listing serial numbers at VHN (1998). It also says that 3913NL's were produced from 91-94 with the TEE prefix. Of course, S&W is great at mixing up serial numbers and making strange transitional models. My 4006 made in 2001 is a non-TSW model even though they were making TSW's by that time. If there is someone else around with the same prefix, they might know of a better, more accurate date. Just remember, S&W is good at a lot of things, including making sure they find ways to keep us S&W fans confused.

For what its worth...the following is offered after contacting S&W..

VJD Aug of 2001
BAW April of 2004
BDX Jan of 2007

No rhyme or reason thats for sure...

You can call S&W customer service with your serial number and they can tell you the exact ship date and product code.
